I was looking through my LJ gallery (Which seems to be missing a pic or two, LJ! Did they fall out in Nevada during the move? *shakes fist*) and came across this. Does anyone know where this comes from? I've had it so long I've no idea where it's from anymore.

Anyway, it still cracks me up to no end to think of Jackie taking it upon herself to feed this skinny alien every chance she gets. Sneak-attacking him with a peanut butter sandwich and so on.

ETA:

I've been looking at old stuff (*points above*) and posts before Journey's End aired.

Okay, remember when spoilery behind-the-scenes pics of the beach scene were leaked? The "duuuuude - brown and blue suits = 2 Doctors!!!" ones.

I could have sworn I remembered seeing the guy who plays Pete in the shots. Somewhere. Maybe? Weren't there other people there that weren't in the final version?

Right, I'm probably losing it.

ETA2: HMPH. I still say Astrid is no more a "Companion" than Sally Sparrow, Tommy or Jackie. But you know who are missing? Mickey and Jack, thank you very much. HMPH. *is a crankypants*

One of the comics from DWM, I'm guessing.

The Doctor complaining about MORE food? Who is this, and what has he done with Ten?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-11-19 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm guessing that they just came back from a tri-galaxy Chips Festival where they've been eating them for the past week. And so he's semi-sick of them for about an hour.

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

That's something that completely amuses me when I think about the altverse: Jackie mother-henning him and the Doctor reacting to it much like a wet cat.

Dude, I definitely vaguely (a bit of a oxymoron there) remember seeing Shaun Dingwall in some promo shots or at least hearing about how he was at filming or something. People were like "they're going to Pete's world!! ROSE!!!". Hmm, I wonder what happened with that.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-11-19 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
WOO! I might not be losing it after all! Either that or we're losing it together. :D

[identity profile] the-lucky-stars.livejournal.com 2008-11-19 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
It's definitely from Doctor Who Adventures, I recognize the artist's style - probably one of the earlier issues, though, since I don't think I've seen this exact comic before.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-11-19 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I seem to recall a...food fight maybe? Anyway, I wonder if it would be in that Betrothal of Sontar collection. Either way, I REALLY need to order my copy.

Yeahh.....I think the only reason Astrid makes the "official" companion list is because she's the non-Doctor person at the center of the episode.

Oh, and happy birthday, you nutter

HMPH. I still say Astrid is no more a ‘Companion’ than Sally Sparrow, Tommy or Jackie. But you know who are missing? Mickey and Jack, thank you very much.

What is this, Charlie’s Angels? Way to reinforce stereotypes, Who NA. HMPH.

P.S. Happy birthday!

I think even the BBC guide lists Astrid as an official companion. BAH. Before S4 I didn't even consider Donna a companion, and she actually got a wee bit of TARDIS time in TRB.

P.S. Happy birthday!

Thanks! :)

River Song

Astrid over River any f*cking day

Not a Companion either! Travel in the TARDIS and go on adventures, GET THE CLUB RING. See, it's not hard, really.

What? Mickey and Jack don't count? *scratches head* They were both invited aboard and *actually* traveled with the Doctor. I would put Astrid down as an honorary companion since both she and the Doctor wanted her to come along.

*nods* She's like barely there. A for effort, but fails in execution.

I can't remember but it is very cute!! :D And I could totally picture Jackie making sure that the Doctor eats a lot. ^_^"

I really like that the set has Donna and Rose next to each other and in the center of the box!!

And she'd probably get annoyed when he'd eat and eat but not gain weight. :D

I sorta wish it was S4 Rose.

Agreed 100%. Astrid is so not a companion. Donna counted after RB ONLY because she'd traveled in the TARDIS. Astrid never set foot in it. Even Sally and Jackie did. She's so not a Companion. But Mickey and Jack totally are.

It's actually pretty weird to me that Sarah Jane and K9 are in it, when Mickey and Jack aren't. This is clearly a new series companion pack...and SJ and K9 may have been in some eps...but they're not new series companions really. Again, Mickey and Jack got jipped.

I had to think for a bit about Sally! I'd completely forgotten that she'd been in the TARDIS. :D

Aw, the cuteness! He's only whining because he likes for her to coax him into things. You know he'd never turn down food.

I do remember rumors of Pete in the background of blurry pics, but I think it turned out to be some red-headed guy in the production crew.

Astrid? Seriously? They must've had more dolls than they knew what to do with. "Oh, let's throw that one in there! One way to get rid of them."
Reminded me of the kerfuffle in the costuming group at DC... when they went to get a group picture of Companions, and somebody suggested the girl in the Reinette dress should be in the picture. (Since they had determined she didn't fit in the Doctors, Monsters or Torchwood groups, and that was all the groups...) Que the chorus of murmurs. "She is not a companion! Maybe a 'companion' in the Firefly sense."

But being a group of friendly and generous costumers, they quickly decided that her dress really was very lovely and obviously a lot of hard work, so she could be in some of the pictures to show off her sewing skills. :)

Most importantly, this day marks the anniversary of when a brilliant ray of sunshine was brought into the world, for which all of us here are thankful.

Oh, is that what it was? Makes sense.

Heh heh. Yeah. Reinette's not a Companion either. But glad this person got to show off the sewing work. I can only imagine the complexity of that one.

HA! Thanks.

I thought I remembered people guessing that one guy was "Pete" , but no positive ID.

Astrid only gets to be a companion because she's Kylie. I second your hmph.

[livejournal.com profile] maypanic said it really turned out to be one of the crew. Makes sense.

Like [livejournal.com profile] larissa_j mentioned, they took existing figures and repackaged them to make them more appealing. Only thing is, the fact that Astrid is in there wouldn't make me buy it.

Now if they came out with a set that had everyone from that scene in Journey's end, including the two Doctors, that I'd buy.

[identity profile] electrictoes.livejournal.com 2008-11-20 09:18 am (UTC)(link)
It annoys me so much when they list Astrid as a companion, she was in one episode. I swear it's just because she was played by Kylie.
She didn't travel with him, ergo, not a companion, I say. Take Astrid out, replace with Jack. Make an extra space for Mickey. Perfect companion set.

I was just saying that'd I'd love a Journey's End set - one that had the 2 Doctors in there as well.
