For [livejournal.com profile] goldy_dollar:

This is monkey bread:

That is also my coffee that I'm still drinking, and some vanilla beans in a tube.

It looks tasty! Are those apple slices on top?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-01-01 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope, just biscuits. Although I bet apple pieces in it would be yummy!

Holy toledo batman! I just ate monkey bread. It was delicious!

It's a fun New Year's thing to make. :)

Yay! Monkey bread! I like making a herbed version for dinner. And it's easy enough for a 3-year-old to help with (Chicklet loves making it too).

I don't know that I've ever heard of an herbed version!

I have the recipe here if you are interested.

YUM!

[identity profile] ivydoor.livejournal.com 2009-01-01 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooo! Yummy! It's been a while since I've had it.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-01-01 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
It'd been a while for me too! Of course, now I've got loads of monkey bread in my freezer. :D

What in god's name is that? XD (And can you send some to England, it looks nice?)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-01-02 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
It's kind of like a giant cinnamon roll. :D

Oooh, we call these "Land of Nod Cinnamon Buns", only no one in my family likes nuts, so we leave them out and I am pretty sure mum doubles the brown sugar part of the recipe. And every year we fight over whether or not to add raisins.

Delicious!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-01-02 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
I think if I did it again, I'd up the brown sugar part of the recipe as well. It was a little dryer than what I'd like.

[identity profile] frenchroast.livejournal.com 2009-01-02 07:49 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, man. I haven't had that in ages! In my family, we do a variation on it with cream cheese inside the biscuits(gorilla bread!). And sometimes instead of cinnamon/sugar, we use orange and lemon zest with sugar and drizzle orange juice over it.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-01-02 02:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh wow! That sounds good!

I have no idea what monkey bread is, but it looks DE-LISH!

It is pretty tasty. :D
