• My flist is all kinds of messed up right now. And not the psychological kind. (Buh bump bump.) A post I made this morning in a community is now on the first page of the flist, after posts I made this afternoon in another community... And the meme I'm going to do in the next point originated on a post I never saw, and still can't see on my flist. I'm happy you're back, LJ, but your little mind is confused.
  
  
• 1) I'd like for the Doctor to find a happy place. Under the helm of RTD, the Doctor's sort of gone off the deep end. Granted it was the result of some external circumstances, but I'd like for him to be on a healing path now. You can't continually have things spiral downwards - it'd be like having him be happy 24/7/365. The Christmas episode was a step in the right direction.
  
  2) I'd like Donna to get her memories back. It would be easy enough to write in circumstances which make it impossible for her to go traveling with him again if that's what they're worried about. She could be...the head of a charitable organization! Or...married! They're clever - they could figure it out.
  
  3) (I dare not ask for.) I'd like Rose to be around for the regeneration. Yeah it won't happen, but I think it'd be nice. Ten started with her, and his incarnation is so tied to her (even when she wasn't on the show) that I think it'd be lovely for there to be a goodbye.
  
  4) And finally (I'm cheating here) is that they really need to write a Ten II and Rose episode after he's gone. Otherwise I get the feeling that DT and BP will stage something of their own using a handheld camera and will put it on youtube. Which will include a life-size cardboard replica of the TARDIS that DT made.

Apparently you are unfamiliar with The Stranger, serials that Colin Baker and Nicola Bryant did basically as a 'well, screw you, we're doing it anyway!' to the BBC when Who was on hiatus in the 80s. The names were changed to protect the innocent, and the tone was overall fairly close to late-Seven-era stories, but that was homebrew Who in the flesh.

Do I think RTD would have the temerity to do that to the Beeb these days? No, but if his comment at the Cheltenham Children's Festival was serious, he might be the show's white knight after someone *cough*Moffat*cough* drives it into the ground.

Also, Donna getting her memories back would be fantastic. I do think her ending made sense within the season arc, but it's still not good. Donna should remember all the amazing things she did!

I'll grudgingly admit that it made sense for Donna to lose her memories *character-wise*. She never thought she amounted to anything - never could see her own worth. (Even though everyone else around her could always see it.) And after her DoctorDonna-ization, she thought *that* was what made her important. So in that sense she really did need to find her own value - a value that wasn't simply because she was the Doctor's sidekick or she got some of the Doctor's abilities.

BUT STILL. She really needs her memories back. HMPH.

I do hope they alow DW to be a little happier next season. There's never been so much angst in the show - ever. Yeah, a 24/7 "happy, happy, joy, joy" wouldn't do but even classic who let him have some happy times.

And seeing either Rose or Donna again would be a happy time. Either would be a nice thing to see.

2) YES PLEASE. I haven't not come close to forgiving RTD for that. She has somehow reconnected with Lee (he had to leave the library, why not end up on contemporary Earth? They are blissfully married with small children, so she can't travel, but remembers without exploding and all is beautiful.

3) I dunno. It's a nice thought, but my hope/personal canon is that regeneration helps lessen that pain in his hearts... not that he no longer loves her, just that it feels more distant, no longer such desperation. More happy for them. I might have a hard time believing that if she's there holding his hand again, even with Ten II by her side. I want my happy Doctor back, plzkthnkz.

1) Yes! I love when the Doctor gets sad and dark and stuff, because it's been acted so well, but yeah...he needs to be happy on a more regular basis now. He was getting there with Donna, and then that all went to hell. And I know that they can either have his current mindset carry over into the next regeneration or no, but I would rather he be happy now then just wiped clean by Moffat later.
