  • DEE? DEE!! WHAT? Okay, she really was suicidal after finding out Earth was a wasteland? Had she been that invested? Yes, I know everyone had been invested, but not everyone put a gun to their head. But what about her reconnecting with Lee? She seemed...good. That was beyond weird. It really felt like "we need someone to off themselves because of this, and so let's get rid of a character who's not really all that major."

  • So Kara isn't the original Kara. She's a copy. And yet she's not a Cylon? How exactly...? Well, I guess she could be a Cylon if they hadn't always been "THERE ARE THIS MANY."

Oh hey! How about this? Kara wasn't one of the original twelve or thirteen models (how many ever there are - can't remember right now), but instead was an offspring? I don't know.

  • How did Roslin wind up as President again? I missed that conversation where that happened.

  • So Ellen is the final One? Huh. So what happened to her when she was killed back on that planet? Wouldn't the Cylons have noticed her popping up in one of their goo tanks? This is if Tigh is remembering things right. I could almost see him getting things messed up - wanting to remember Ellen but it was really Kara lying there.

  • And still, no "by your command." HMPH.

Yeah, the whole Dee thing really confused me. Not least because I thought the focus on her meant that she was the fifth Cylon. So I totally thought her suicide was some Cylon-related issue and we'd see her again. Not so much, huh?

The theory about Kara is that she was cloned from that ovary or whatever the Cylons stole way back when she was stuck on Caprica for awhile. No idea about the plausibility of this theory.

Lee handed the Presidency back to her when she showed back up, in the last episode.

Ellen... meh. The final Cylon reveal was bound to be anticlimactic after all this build-up, and yet. Ellen? *scratches head*

[identity profile] velvet4269.livejournal.com 2009-01-17 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm going to have to go back and re-watch that, because for some weird reason, I thought someone else had the gun to Dee's head - I think because the angle seemed off to me. Did I miss her pick it up? That whole sequence just seemed ... off (although her removing her wedding ring before committing suicide does make sense).

And yeah, I felt the whole Ellen being the last cylon was a little anti-climactic. And what does Leoben know, that he's not telling.

Apparently not. *scratches head*

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh! Well, that at least would make some sort of sense.

Lee handed the Presidency back to her when she showed back up, in the last episode.

AH! It's been too long, obviously. I didn't remember that.

Ellen... meh. The final Cylon reveal was bound to be anticlimactic after all this build-up, and yet. Ellen? *scratches head*

It's...odd.

At first I thought someone else was holding the gun too! It was a strange shot since it was so tight and you couldn't actually see her hand. But yeah, that ring thing was a giveaway.

And yeah, I felt the whole Ellen being the last cylon was a little anti-climactic. And what does Leoben know, that he's not telling.

Beck just brought up the point of her being a product of Kara being captured on Caprica at that baby farm. I'm inclined to go with that.

I dont think Kara is a copy. I think something got fractutred in time in that black hole.

As for Ellen, I'm not convinced. The 5 cannot ressurect. So no she wouldnt have popped up in a gunk tank, but what if she didn't actually die. Don't forget straight after he poisoned her the rescue attack started, there is nopthing to say her cylon DNA didnt countermand the poison. She could be hiding amongst the fleet

don't forget straight after he poisoned her the rescue attack started, there is nopthing to say her cylon DNA didnt countermand the poison.

I am betting they find a chamber housing the final 5 originals.

Laura retook presidency im revelations.

i think you could hear my jaw drop from a mile away when Dee died, when Kara found "herself" and Ellen, i literally yelled out loud "oh my god! ellen!" i did NOT see that coming at all...so where the FRAK is she???? she must be somewhere on the ships? but they're all down to how many ships in the cylon fleet, unless there's more and also
doesn't this mean EVERYONE is a cylon then if the 13th were cylons?
i'm totally messed up
and yeah, dee dying...i thought she was gonna be it, but of course that's what they wanted us to think....
i'm wondering if kara is half cylon?
does anyone else think some of them finding things that are still around (and at a shallow level) like guitars and jacks a bit silly?
if this battle happened 2000 years ago there wouldn't be jacks lying around like that, or they'd be really decayed, and that guitar wouldn't be there. i dunno, it's wierd.

My friend's pet theory is that Kara is Saul's offspring, thus a hybrid. After hearing how Hera is special for so long, that would also explain Kara's "specialness". I still can't figure out why Chief's kid isn't considered special.

Ron Moore was interviewed and said he felt like Dee made sense because she had lost Billy, broken up with Lee, and now didn't even have life on Earth to look forward to. Thus, one last moment of happiness and then gone.

I never liked Ellen and this does not thrill me. I won't be surprised if she isn't a hallucination on Tigh's part.

Adama and Roslin breaking down just throws me all out of whack.

And since this is the final run, it doesn't have to get better. :/

[identity profile] beck-liz.livejournal.com 2009-01-17 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
They were trying to be a little too clever about making the suicide shocking, so they did some weird things with the camera angles. She did pick it up, I think, but it was a disembodied hand.

[identity profile] kammgirl.livejournal.com 2009-01-17 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I got the impression that they were showing Dee having final moments of joy because she knew she was planning to die. Please Felix, I just want to hold onto this feeling as long as possible. Sometimes people make their last day their best, because they know it will be their last. BUT I wonder if something else happened to bring Dee to this point. What happened on Earth had them all in a tailspin, but I think there might be some backstory that hasn't been revealed yet. It seriously was the last thing I expected. For some reason I don't think Karaq is cylon. I liked the theory I saw above about a fracture in time. Whatever it is must be bad if Leoben is running in the other direction. I also think Ellen being the final cylon is a red herring. Though I am sure Saul would want it to be true.

Sniff looked so happy when she was watching Hera for Helo and Sharon. And Adama broke my heart.

That could be interesting.

Don't forget straight after he poisoned her the rescue attack started, there is nopthing to say her cylon DNA didnt countermand the poison. She could be hiding amongst the fleet

I didn't realize they couldn't resurrect. (Or if I knew, I'd forgotten it.) And I guess anything could happen in sci-fi. She might not be dead.

Laura retook presidency im revelations.

For some reason I completely forgot that.

I could feel the Kara revelation coming. I had a feeling she'd find her own body on the planet. Dee was a complete shock though. You barely had time to react to the fact that there was a gun to her head before it was fired, and then it still took a bit for me to figure out she did it to herself.

And I never thought it'd be Ellen.

and also doesn't this mean EVERYONE is a cylon then if the 13th were cylons?

At first I thought this meant that we're all cylons. As in, the audience. But then I remembered that they still only had a limited number of models, even there. It's why the Chief could get memories of his life. So it's "Earth" but it's not our Earth.

if this battle happened 2000 years ago there wouldn't be jacks lying around like that, or they'd be really decayed, and that guitar wouldn't be there. i dunno, it's wierd.

You'd *think*. Maybe they were made out of special Cylon materials. :D

That would amuse me to no end if Saul was Kara's father. :D And the only reason I can think of why there was no prophesies about the Chief's kid was because he was one of the final five, and all secret and stuff. He was banned from their minds or whatever.

Ron Moore was interviewed and said he felt like Dee made sense because she had lost Billy, broken up with Lee, and now didn't even have life on Earth to look forward to. Thus, one last moment of happiness and then gone.

Huh. I'm not sure I have anything more on that.

Ellen seems...odd. She's the One? Wow. I could really believe it'd be a hallucination by Tigh.

I still want to put Kara as at least part Cylon. How else could she get all of the other Kara's memories?

Adama and Roslin breaking down just throws me all out of whack.

That doesn't surprise me, really. Roslin summed it up - people have died for this cause that now seems bogus. She and Adama were the ones who lead everyone down this path. I'm actually sort of surprised it was Dee who killed herself and not Roslin.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-01-17 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I got the impression that they were showing Dee having final moments of joy because she knew she was planning to die.

And I thought DW's PTB were manipulative! :D

but I think there might be some backstory that hasn't been revealed yet.

That would make it make sense. But I guess like Lee said - it probably won't ever make sense.

For some reason I don't think Karaq is cylon. I liked the theory I saw above about a fracture in time. Whatever it is must be bad if Leoben is running in the other direction.

He said he was wrong - maybe he did think that Kara was one of the final 5. But she's something different and that's scary as hell. I still want to know how she got all the other Kara's memories.

I also think Ellen being the final cylon is a red herring. Though I am sure Saul would want it to be true.

It seems...I don't know. Just really strange.

Sniff looked so happy when she was watching Hera for Helo and Sharon. And Adama broke my heart.

It was one depressing episode.

[identity profile] outforawalk.livejournal.com 2009-01-17 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I wasn't surprised that the leadership fell apart, but it as still troubling. It was Bill's suicide by cylon that really threw me.

I am behind my friend's theory of Saul as Kara!daddy, mostly because it would make me laugh and laugh, after the way they were in the beginning.

Good point about people not knowing the final five.

[identity profile] elismor.livejournal.com 2009-01-17 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)

if this battle happened 2000 years ago there wouldn't be jacks lying around like that, or they'd be really decayed, and that guitar wouldn't be there. i dunno, it's wierd.

Tell that to all the bits of Sumerian pottery that the archeologists keep finding. :)

The jacks I totaly believe--they're metal. The guitar is slightly more problematic in that the neck was wooden and it had been in a damp environment. But there are certainly cases of 2000 year old wood being discovered.

[identity profile] elismor.livejournal.com 2009-01-17 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
That would amuse me to no end if Saul was Kara's father.

This has been my pet theory since season one, though the cylon angle certainly makes it more interesting.

I'm not sure I have anything more on that.

I actually suspected that she was going to kill herself when she found the jacks on the beach. I'm not sure why, exactly, but it clicked for me.

I'm actually sort of surprised it was Dee who killed herself and not Roslin.

Roslin IS killing herself, she just doesn't have the guts to do it quickly like Dee did. Instead, she has stopped her cancer treatments.

My current theory is that Starbuck is actually a cylon...because clearly there were more than 5 models of them on Earth when the Chief was killed...just just not one of the final 5.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
But wouldn't the jacks at least be rusted-looking?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 01:10 am (UTC)(link)

I actually suspected that she was going to kill herself when she found the jacks on the beach. I'm not sure why, exactly, but it clicked for me.

That's something I really didn't see coming. Even though she was all "keep it together" in the shuttle.

Roslin IS killing herself, she just doesn't have the guts to do it quickly like Dee did. Instead, she has stopped her cancer treatments.

Oh true. I'd kind of forgotten that element.

My current theory is that Starbuck is actually a cylon...because clearly there were more than 5 models of them on Earth when the Chief was killed...just just not one of the final 5.

Were we able to see more faces during that scene? I can't remember.

But there HAS to be something Cylonish going on with Kara. How else could you explain the memories?

[identity profile] alexiscartwheel.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
Dee really surprised me. Not that BSG is ever particularly cheery, but I feel like we're setting up for a lot of death and destruction. I really hope that somebody I like is left alive and not psychologically destroyed by the end.

[identity profile] elismor.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
That's something I really didn't see coming

I'm not sure why I did. I just suddenly knew that she was going to kill herself (or possibly allow herself to die).

Were we able to see more faces during that scene?

Yeah, there were people on the street and a fruit vendor.

The weird thing about Kara is the viper. Where the heck did that come from?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmmmm. Maybe it is some sort of time thing. Although I'm sure Cylons could construct a viper if they wanted to.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
It would be nice if there was something good at the end, wouldn't it?

[identity profile] kitsune17.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Everyone else has already addressed all of the thoughts I had except one.

Dee was humming a song right before she shot herself. Was it the same song that the activated the five? It was a little disjointed, like she'd hum a part, think the next part in her head, then hum another part, so I couldn't really tell.

And if she was, how did she know that song?

[identity profile] velvet4269.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I found myself wondering the same thing - what was she humming, and was it "all along the watchtower"?

Curiouser and curiouser; down the rabbit hole we go, indeed.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooooh! I have no idea!
