  • I picked up Futurama's "Into the Wild Green Yonder" last night, which came out yesterday. This was pretty funny, unlike the "Beast With a Billion Backs" which was only just okay. There were many times I laughed out loud. Ken Keeler (with some help from David X. Cohen) wrote this one, and I like his writing. (He wrote episodes like "The Devil's Hands are Idle Playthings," "Time Keeps on Slippin'" and "Bender's Big Score.") Also, the DVD extras were amusing - a decent amount of stuff for $16, including one thing titled "DVD Extras No One Ever Watches." MWAH.

This is potentially the last Futurama episode/movie ever and the whole ending had me grinning. It's not as sniffly as the moment at the end of "The Devil's Hands are Idle Playthings" (the last episode of the TV run), but it was still a great way to possibly end it forever. (Although from the commentary, TPTB would love to do more - it's just a matter of getting backing.)

Warning: if you're going around looking for info on this, the wiki page gives a very detailed plot summary so you will be spoiled.

  • Having a bad day? This otter pic will help.

  • ETA: BAH. Why are half my icons gone?

Glad to hear I'm not the only one for whom LJ is being SCREWY AND ANNOYING.

*Squishes the otters, who almost make up for LJ being mean*

*claps for otters*

And yeah, LJ Icon's are all messed up.

Need to get this Futurama DVD. STAT.

Clearly someone at LJ headquarters kicked the hamster wheel that kept it all in balance.

D'awww... da otters is so cute! I luff them. You remember that otter video that came out? Did you see it, of the two otters swimming around holding hands and then the boy otter (supposedly the boy, but who knows) sort of parked the girl and went for a lap by himself and then came back and got her? You saw it yeah? I hope so. Twas cute. :D

Otters appear to have taken the Doctor/Rose lesson in teh cuteness factor. Or perhaps the Doctor and Rose learned cute from the otters?

LJ is NOT cute.

I watched the first season then, for some unknown reason, drifted away from the show. Don't know why?

My icons don't disappear - they just keep witching places!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, now the icon is back!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Pththththt at the icons.

And this really was a fun Futurama movie. :D

Poor, poor hamster.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww, yes! That was such a cute vid!

It's hard to say who could learn more from the other...

LJ is NOT cute.

No.

Futurama is something that only improved with age. There are some episodes that are incredibly brilliant for any show, much less an animated one.

"Time Keeps on Slippin'" and "Roswell That Ends Well" are fantastic eps that play around with time. (And the Roswell one brings a new meaning to "grandfather paradox.") "The Luck of the Fryrish" and "Jurrasic Bark" both actually made me cry.

[identity profile] greenpear.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Looks like I'll have to put this on my list of things to watch sooner or later. (probably later)...

[identity profile] sherbertglasses.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Is it shipperific like Bender's Big Score?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
You could say that. :D

Although it's not really the focus of the plot like it was in BBS.

[identity profile] olga-keepout.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I still haven't seen Beast With A Billion Backs and Bender's Game yet but now I kind of want to, so that I can watch this. :D

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
You don't really have to watch the other movies to catch what's going on. It's pretty stand-alone. You might not catch one or two very minor things but nothing you couldn't live without.

For example, the Planet Express ship now flies on whale oil because all dark matter was destroyed in Bender's Game. Really tiny stuff like that.

Thanks, I'll try to get my hands on that DVD asap. I need some funny in my life right now.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
And I just picked it up at Target for $16. Can't beat the price! I had to read the back to be sure it wasn't a bare-bones DVD.

[identity profile] olga-keepout.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
We don't have a Target here obviously but the prices of DVDs have always been like $14 here... complete with all the extras. I think you can get a bare-bones version for about $7 (although these may lack in the quality).

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Normally we'd be looking at around $19 - $20 for a bare-bones, and then $25 and up for a special edition.

[identity profile] olga-keepout.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
O_O

No one would even ~approach~ the stands if those were the normal prices. You can buy a week worth of groceries here for $20 lol.
