BOO!

I was opening my windows just now (it's finally cool enough) and what did I see?

RAWR!!!!

It's about 3 inches long and yes, it's OUTSIDE the window. I don't think it's a grasshopper, is it? I'm not sure what it is - I'm not quite sure if a lizard would be higher or lower on the food chain with this thing. O_o

ETA: [livejournal.com profile] rattus_aerius solved it. Looks like a katydid.

Oooh, it does!!

I think they're cool because they look like leaves. :D

I'm not sure I've seen one up close and personal before. Unfortunately it's really hard to see his/her back from inside, and I don't feel like getting out of my jammies to go outside. :D

Katykid!? Nonsense! It's an alien from the planet Tzizika...They call themselves Prasinopopos....
(I'm clearly suffering from a case of silly or slightly crazy)

Aw, it's big and green and cute!

Argh! That was not *at all* what I was expecting to see behind that cut. Ewww! Bugs.

[identity profile] roseredathena.livejournal.com 2009-10-18 08:03 am (UTC)(link)
It kind of looks like a parakeet with insect legs growing out of its back. Or a grasshopper that's swallowed a parakeet. Weird.

Foothold!

HEE! I feel like the puppy in the corner is befuddled and slightly horrified by the buggy addition to your journal entry.

DUDE!!!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-10-18 02:51 pm (UTC)(link)
It is sort of! As long as it's not touching me. :D

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-10-18 02:51 pm (UTC)(link)
O:-)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-10-18 02:52 pm (UTC)(link)
MAYBE IT IS. O_O

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. IT'S HORRIBLE.

California just got written off my list of places to winter in when I'm older and successful and can afford to have a second house in a warm place. THINKING ABOUT THESE THINGS NOW IS IMPORTANT, OKAY.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-10-18 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
YOU MIGHT GET EATEN BY ONE!!

Actually, I've never seen one of these before in all the years I've lived here.

I suppose it's better than bears. There was another scary bear story in the paper today. I'm considering sending it to Opal, but she might take it the wrong way and see it as encouragement.

BWAH! No, it wasn't that one, but that's pretty funny. XD

The one I read was slightly more terrifying:
