It came out pretty recently, maybe six months ago? It's Nicholas Cage and his kid gets this sheet of random numbers from the school's timecapsule and it turns out the numbers MEAN STUFF!!!! -- specifically the date of a big disaster and the number of casualties followed by the GPS location.
TL;DR it's aliens, the sun blows up and everyone dies. It was awesome. Especially because the aliens kind of come out of nowhere unless, like me, you are preconditioned to assume aliens cause everything. Like ten minutes in I was like "IT'S ALIENS."
There's also some heavy-handed Adam/Eve stuff that involves the aliens rescuing Nicholas Cage's son and Nicholas Cage's Brief Love-Interest's Daughter and carting them off to... um... New Earth.
And then Nicholas Cage goes back to the religious family he scorned as a MAN OF SCIENCE!!! (he works at MIT) and they hug and then the sun blows up. The last scene is Boy and Girl frolicking through applegrass or some shit.
Man it was seriously so great. After I saw it I almost wrote up a huge recap thing on lj because I thought it was just so funny, but I ran out of steam partway through.
I was talking to a guy today who totally believes the 2012 stuff. Mayan glyphs! Planet X Nibiru! 26,000 years! I tried a couple times to explain that the Mayans never said any such thing and the guy who came up with the Nibiru rubbish couldn't actually read Sumerian. Then I forced myself to shut up and just suffered inside my head.
He told me that they're already building 2012-proof shelters in Europe and omg they'd never do that if it weren't true! Um.
so they're saying they've actually gone forward in time and know for certain we're all going to die, ahhh well that's cool then, i'd better get prepared knowing that they already know the entire future. O.o LOL :)
'sides i'm of the belief more into the whole "feeling a change coming in 2012" as a LOT of spiritual writers have said. But NO as Ten said "we just go blundering into things" we humans do (i'm paraphrasing there) there's always those people who totally take things into other meanings and literally believe it's gonna end, the poles will flip and we'l all die on like ONE specific day. not i really seriously doubt this to be true, if so i'll apologize on the 22nd :P i have already seen a change in consciousness in people around the world, the realisation that global warming is important, exploration, looking at ones self from a different way, either spiritually or in new beliefs. Some really great authors/speaker out there are worth a serious listen in to: Wayne Dyer, Eckert Tolle, Neale Donald Walsch, don miguel ruiz and several others, "what the bleep" movie is also a very interesting choice to watch. Now, you may not go for this side of things/life but it's worth it if you're interested :) just my thoughts and how i'm trying to think. plus, we just found a significant amount of water on the moon so come on! barefeet on the moon i dont wanna miss that :)

If they calender ended on 12-12-2012, then I'd have reason to worry.

Unless, they just didn't know where to go after 2011? Was there a latant fear to enter into the depths of 2012????

This is my favourite post all morning. I'm adding it to my memories so I can look at that seal and laugh while the world is ending.
