Okay, so on the CiN special (which was probably the first few minutes of the Christmas special?)...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-s1vpaYbU4Q

My first reaction was to laugh out loud. Crazy!Doctor is CRAZY!

Second reaction was to wonder if he's going for the Douchebag of the Millennium award for continuing to fuck with history (literally) even after the end of WoM.

My third reaction was to really be amused that the non-batshit one is off with Rose where neither of them have to turn up at the Douchebag of the Millennium award ceremony. You know, to show support. :D *tries to make the wall between worlds thicker* *LOTS THICKER*

I have to admit that crazy!Doctor is making me pay attention more than I probably would have. Not saying I particularly like crazy!Doctor, though. He's interesting and all, but in an "how the mighty have fallen" kind of way. This isn't the guy who's inspired so many, including his companions. He's...basically Simm's Master.

It was the first few minutes immediately following the credits of the Christmas special. The precredits sequence was considered so massively spoilery they didn't want to use it.

I have a hunch we shouldn't take what we saw at face value, but it was pretty damn funny.

I doubt they'd be going back into the mists of old-school for such a plot (see: Omega taking over Five), but I suppose the Master could be mapping himself onto Ten for some reason. After all, remember he had the hand for a few years.

CRAZY!DOUCHE!TEN will eventually get it right, he's just taking the scenic route with a little rebound in the mix.

Omfg I love Crazy Doctor. WHAT WILL HE DO NEXT? SCREW WITH FIXED POINTS IN TIME? SLEEP WITH THE VIRGIN QUEEN? WHO KNOWS!

And somewhere Cloen is having really confusing dreams about Queen Elizabeth I.

Really? You think it might have been a fake?

That would be interesting.

Crazy!Douche!Ten better stay in his own universe! :D

[identity profile] maypanic.livejournal.com 2009-11-21 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Skipping ahead and watching this even though haven't felt like watching WoM yet. Meh.

"And let me tell you, her nickname is no longer... anyway."

They actually went there. I CANNOT BELIEVE THEY WENT THERE! *falls over*

Other than that... is it just me or did that whole little skit just look kind of ... cheap? Unprofessional? Something like that. I know it's been said that RTD wanted to break all his toys before leaving so the other kids couldn't play with them but... sheesh. Taking a beloved character and making him into someone the whole universe wants to unite in the effort to give one massive slap is definitely an interesting plot device. Especially for a writer who presumably still wants to have a future career.

I still like the one where he munches on popcorn while Torchwood burns. XD

And somewhere Cloen is having really confusing dreams about Queen Elizabeth I.

*SNORTS*

I'm not sure what to think of that whole thing. I guess after WoM nothing would surprise me about the Doctor. (And yeah, it does feel a bit like RTD breaking all the toys...)

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_thirty2flavors/ 2009-11-21 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
OF COURSE HE DID! He also totally dropped harmless artifacts all over Cardiff and watched them scramble. Initially Frances and I thought it would be Eleven who would do this, but Crazy Ten is way more up to the task.

*SNORTS*

YOU KNOW IT'S TRUE.

[identity profile] larissa-j.livejournal.com 2009-11-21 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
but I suppose the Master could be mapping himself onto Ten for some reason.

I figured the Doctor in WoM was going to be the Master but no. He's just crazy.

[identity profile] principia-coh.livejournal.com 2009-11-21 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Really? You think it might have been a fake?

I think it might've been a put-on on Ten's part. He's hardly going to outline his plans to people of whom he is suspicious.

That would be interesting.

Not sure that it's anything close to what's happening, but it's not outside the realm of possibility.

[identity profile] larissa-j.livejournal.com 2009-11-21 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
And yeah, it does feel a bit like RTD breaking all the toys..

While they're still his to break and, perhaps, to break us in for Eleven.

I say us but I won't be there ;)

[identity profile] larissa-j.livejournal.com 2009-11-21 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
I think it might've been a put-on on Ten's part. He's hardly going to outline his plans to people of whom he is suspicious.

Or he just found out that Ten II and Rose got married.

[identity profile] larissa-j.livejournal.com 2009-11-21 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
with a little rebound in the mix.

Jack is going to kill himself when he realizes he missed this.

[identity profile] ginamak.livejournal.com 2009-11-21 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
I know it's been said that RTD wanted to break all his toys before leaving so the other kids couldn't play with them but... sheesh.

I got that feeling, too. Like RTD was saying, "Oh, whatever, I'm out, I'm gonna screw with EVERYONE and EVERYTHING."

[identity profile] maypanic.livejournal.com 2009-11-21 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
I'm picturing thousands of happy little British families tonight, with wee kiddies asking "Daddy, what did he mean? And why did Mummy fall out of her chair?" XD

Next scene, David the Doctor gives in to temptation and starts gnawing on Ood tentacles...

So apparently he'll be regenerating from an overdose of crazy pills. OR. The TARDIS says "Waddaya mean, installing a remote unlock on ME? I DON'T THINK SO!" And lands on top of him. *WHUMP*, new Doctor.

[identity profile] teruel-a-witch.livejournal.com 2009-11-21 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
I just realized what I found so off about the whole Bess-thing, it just really looks like something Moffat would do, not RTD, only Moffat always portrayed Ten as a bit of a ladykiller-douche, with RTD he can be douche to anyone because of superiority of his mind but not in that area as this time, I always kinda thought of The Doctor as the gentleman in that case (since I don't consider Moffat's scribbles canon xD) and I don't feel pleasant after I've been thrown that belief in my face...

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_thirty2flavors/ 2009-11-21 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
It's probably worth noting that by this point Ten is a little (a lot) cra-zay.

Plus he's an unreliable narrator like, all the time. But especially the crazy.

[identity profile] teruel-a-witch.livejournal.com 2009-11-21 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I know but I can forgive him everything (I love him being douche to random people let's be honest) except being mean to a woman (nothing can excuse a man in that case), my feminist-side kicks very hard at this point when the amusement has gone, I can't help it xD So RTD's way of portraying crazy Doctor is the way Moffat portrays the sane one? XD

Well, I'm kinda choosing to believe he is inventing macho-looking lies to cover up something embarassing he did that made The Queen so angry xD

[identity profile] typbrunette.livejournal.com 2009-11-21 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
First I had to watch the clip, which I was entirely unaware existed till now.

Then I had to watch the beginning again and cringe at the douche-ness.

Then I had to look up "Good Queen Bess" (stupid American).

Then about five minutes later I had to gasp in shock and utter horror at the "Her nickname is no longer....anyway..."

I think...I think I might have thrown up a little.

David Tennant doing naughty things? Hot. Ten doing naughty things (besides with Rose and only after years of angst over it)? Oh lord, just...I...ugh. Gag.

[identity profile] elirrina.livejournal.com 2009-11-21 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
I feel bad for the poor little Ood and their bad dreams!

But mostly I'm too busy laughing in confusion. And feeling sympathetic for why Queen Elizabeth tried to kill him earlier. Totally natural reaction.

WORD.

I am not sure if I want to see Crazy!Doctor. It was great in Waters. But now? I want see this Doctor who I liked, no the stupid one, who thinks he is the Winner of all the Time Lord, because he survived (yeah, and who is the killer? He is the loser). I am scared, not thrilled.

[identity profile] tripocket.livejournal.com 2009-11-21 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
I understand that this whole thing may be a red-herring, but douche!Doctor holds no interest for me what so ever.

Interesting idea!
