"Major Carter."

Sam looked up from the table at the familiar voice.

"Hi, Teal'c." She did a double-take at his face as he sat down with his very full tray. Others might have had a hard time reading him, but to Sam he was an open book - and he was happy about something. In her eyes, practically giddy.

Sam smiled. "What?"

Teal'c opened his mouth then closed it again. He paused, giving her an odd look before finally saying something. "I was recalling an incident aboard the Stromos."

Sam frowned. What in the world could have been so amusing on that mission? And funny to Teal'c, no less. "Care to share?" she asked as she took a sip from her glass.

"I was recalling the moment when O'Neill winked at you."

Sam nearly choked on her water, letting out a little cough. She quickly set her glass down. "I don't think so, Teal'c." She would have noticed something like that, wouldn't she?

"I did indeed observe O'Neill winking at you."

She leaned forward a bit. "The Colonel...winked at me? When?"

"Daniel Jackson was in a sleep chamber. O'Neill spoke of SG-4, after which he winked."

"I'm sure you're wrong. Why would he..." Sam stopped herself. Dammit if the corner of Teal'c's mouth wasn't curving up.

"I don't think so, Teal'c."

"I am quite certain."

"No, you've got to be wrong."

"I am not."

Had he always been this frustrating?! "Okay, *maybe* he blinked. Maybe. Or," she quickly added as the thought came to her, "had some dust in his eye?"

"The vessel was cleaner than my own quarters." The twinkle in his eyes was unmistakable. "There was no dust and O'Neill did wink at you."

"Teal'c, there's just no way the Colonel would have been winking at me. It *had* to have been a blink."

"Carter. Teal'c."

Shit.

The Colonel would have to be right behind her at that moment, wouldn't he? Of course he would. She was talking about him so naturally the cliché law of the universe would dictate him overhearing her conversation. Well, maybe he didn't hear.

That's what she'd keep telling herself at least.

"Sir."

He walked around the table and sat next to Teal'c.

"So, what're you kids talking about?" he asked.

Teal'c opened his mouth.

"Well, I'm gonna go." Sam shot up from her chair. "I promised Daniel I'd keep him company since Janet's still holding him for observation."

Teal'c closed his mouth.

"Have fun, Carter," the Colonel said with a smile and a half wave of the hand.

Sam did an about-face and started her retreat.

Her CO's voice behind her stopped her in her tracks - so near the door...and freedom. "Don't ya wanna get my input on the whole winking versus blinking debate?"

A hole opening up in the floor would be good right about now. Nice big hole to jump into. Or better yet - an Asgard transport beam. It could take either him or her. She wasn't fussy. Really.

Unfortunately, neither happened. Sam turned to face her two team members, both of whom looked *way* too amused.

"I don't specifically *recall* winking," the Colonel smirked. And then...no mistaking it this time.

He winked.

Damn, she hated being wrong.
