It just seems like something that would be really awkward to carry around. And does it have a stand or do you have to hunch over it if you lay it down?
oh but it has a 3G connection , wireless connection and you can buy apps for it in the iTunes store! They're also going to "kill" the Kindle market because you want to, you know, spend that much for an ereader.
And the iTunes store is so cool because no one has ever bought software before and laptops don't ship with preinstalled 3G cards. Oh and ebook readers haven't been available for almost every device/format for free.
I don't even know. At least some tech folks have stopped pretending like Apple invented the tablet with this release.
Also, Amazon is hiring PM, devs and testers for Kindle so I doubt it will remain on their readers only.
Tablets aren't new and they used to have a pretty limited market. There are uses but marketing it as an entertainment device is pretty, well, stupid. Their version appears to be a device designed to serve up content, paid content... that's not exactly a compelling reason to buy. I've already seen articles stating that the Apple tablet might just save print media. Um no.
People will buy it, though, because it's new and it's Apple and for some, that's all it takes.
I think all the tech blogs should offer a prize to whoever the first person was some time back who did a photoshop of the Apple tablet just being a giant iPhone.
It's about as "magical" and "revolutionary" as a bowl of Lucky Charms.
(There's a persistent belief in Japan that Sony builds their laptops with a kill switch that goes off the day after your warranty expires. No, I'm not kidding.)
Did they just start throwing random words behind the "I" and when they came to 'Pad' did they say "Bingo! I think we can be made fun of with this one."
And what exactly is the point of it? It's going to start off with a price tag of $499 and it's what? It's too harsh on the eyes to be a eBook reader. It looks the the iPhone only it doesn't make phone calls. Why not buy a lap top or one of the mini notebooks for nearly half the cost?
I love my iPod and my iMac but I think Apple is stretching. Yes they usually have a superior product but this one, as far as I can tell is totally pointless.
BWAHAHAHAHA, of course I have about as much love for Sony as I have for Apple so I'm amused.
Still, it's not something that's restricted to Sony. HP is also pretty bad about this. They used to average a 2 year expectancy for their consumer grade devices.
