Petty Ranting

  • I'm on my string cheese thing again. Every once in a while I'll curse the food industry for the crappy white cheese stick blobs they label as "string cheese." THERE OUGHTA BE A LAW. Okay, so this conversation is 5 years old, but it still stands. I found some honest-to-god string cheese in an Italian deli once, but it's about 100 miles away. Bah.

  • So here on the West Coast we finally finally have a live event in the same time zone. What does NBC do? TAPE DELAYS IT FOR 3 HOURS. That's right. While the rest of the world watches the opening ceremonies tonight, we'll be blacked out. No getting online to chat in real time things like "did you just see Celine Dion jump out of that paper moose???" My entire TV life has been tape delayed. I hate you, NBC.

  • I really need a third thing to rant about, so... Celery! Yeah. It sucks. But yet people seem compelled to put it in things like chicken salad and tuna salad for absolutely no good reason. MIND CONTROL! IT'S A PLOT!

I have had real string cheese before! It was delicious! And.. stringy! And very salty but that is acceptable because I love salt. Mmm mmm sodium.

MMMMMM. Yes! Real string cheese is salty and dry.

I'm trying to concoct a way to watch the Olympics tonight. I don't think it's happening. Hmf.

Yeah, but you're Canadian! You've gotta watch!

I... like celery, actually. It is a pointless food, but it makse such a satisfying crunch.

I think it all goes back to as a kid we had to eat celery and peanut butter instead of things like cookies. Which is good an all, but to this day I can't stand celery and I only tolerate peanut butter.

It was delicious. It was at my friend's house, and his mom's a vegan or vegetarian or something so I suspect it came from some specialty food store somewhere. But that's the only time I've ever had it, and we did not sell it when I worked at the grocery store, despite our fairly impressive selection.

I KNOW. I accepted this dinner invite like a month ago without realizing, lol.

Omg, with raisins? ANTS ON A LOG? I hated that, they used to try and give it to us at Brownies (um... is Brownies Canadian?)

I remember the good stuff from when I was a kid - back before absolutely everything was processed and pumped full of chemicals.

And I forgot about the raisins. I don't like raisins either. :D

I liked the processed stuff as a kid, but the real stuff was way more delicious. I've only had it maybe twice, and both times we just kind of sat down and raided my friend's supply, lol.

I hate raisins. Why would you take a good thing (grapes) and turn it into something terrible? This applies to all dried fruit.

The worst is when you pick up what you think is a chocolate chip cookie, but NO! RAISINS! You can practically hear the cookie doing a "MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

THAT IS THE WORST. IT IS LIKE THE UNIVERSE IS MOCKING YOU. NOT COOL, UNIVERSE.

That happened to me at work last week. Hmf.
