Yay for Leverage! :D This show really can be the cure for the overwrought angsty drama. It was so great seeing Sophie back on the team! (How funny would it be if her name was actually Sophie? :D)
At the very beginning of The Jailhouse Job, I was thinking that things seemed a bit fake, and was all ready to be disappointed that the show had gone downhill. But then it turned out to actually be fake, so all was forgiven.
While I like the chemistry between Sophie and Nate (hell, I like the chemistry between Sophie and everyone), I can't say I'm overly interest in their romantic relationship. To me, I'm way more interested in Hardison and Parker because they are cute and funny. :D Not that I can picture myself ever writing fic or anything, but I loved the bit in the van. You know the one. The dancing thing at the end of The Reunion Job was a bit cheesy though.
Overall, I had fun watching the episodes, but then I usually have fun watching Leverage.
Speaking of the overwrought angsty drama, I tried out the first three episodes of Mad Men. It seems to be a world filled with sad, pathetic characters (and ones who sometimes do stupid things just to propel the plot), and I found myself asking "is this trip really necessary?" by the end of the third ep. The answer was "no" so I deleted the rest of the disks from my Netflix queue.
The Thursday Next book series is still giving me no end of amusement. I've always had a loathing for Wuthering Heights, so I loved the whole idea of Miss Havisham (from Great Expectations) being forced to lead the cast of Wuthering Heights in an anger management session -- just too funny. "I'm so and so, and I hate Heathcliff because..." And Miss Havisham finally holding a gun to Heathcliff's head, threatening to lay the smack down on him was priceless. :D
As much as I do like Thursday, I've decided that my favorite character is Pickwick the dodo. There might be mild squeeing whenever she makes an appearance. This is probably sad since all she does is make plock-plocking sounds and begs for marshmallows. Every time Thursday gets into trouble, I'm always thinking "BUT WHO WILL FEED PICKWICK??" :D
Hee! Your icon! I should get one of the two of them.
and thank god I'm not the only one who doesn't get the appeal of Mad Men!
I came away thinking that the advertising game in the 60s was the easiest job ever since it was run by complete morons. And I'm not talking about the frat-boy antics - these people are stupid.
I loved the first Thursday Next book but with each new book the story went more and more in the fantastical. And looking at te first book, that's saying something. After the third one I decided I was done with the series.
**addendum** I love that Leverage is back. Thanx for the heads up. I need my Parker fix...

It is getting more and more fantastical, but so far I'm not minding.

I have never seen Leverage, though most of my list squees about it. If you like it, maybe I should give it a try ...

*nods* And also I found the characters to be really really thick, plodding along and simply being motivated by their stereotype.

I really enjoy it a LOT. It's not particularly original as far as the plots go - it's the characters that make it. Plus random sci-fi references! :D
