I'm a little over halfway through The Order of the Phoenix.
- OMG, EVERYONE IS PMS-ING IN CAPS LOCK. I was warned about Harry, but everyone seems especially pissy. Like they all need Midol...oralius.
- You don't fuck with Hermione. You just don't. About anything. I love that. :D
- As fandom has made me way more interested in Ginny than I would have been otherwise, I'm happy she finally getting some characterization. (Seriously, if I hadn't been mildly aware of HP ship wars, I'm sure I wouldn't have paid the character too much attention before now.)
- Oh, young love. Do you like me? I mean like me like me? XD And the classic:
Hermione: *explains exactly what's going on in a girl's head*
Ron: WTFH?
Harry: *stares blankly*
Hermione: *does not zap them just for the hell of it*

1. Evil wins because Good is stupid (and won't talk to one another).
2. Teenage whinging.
3. Self-righteous bad guys who are "right" because they are "right".
That said, I do rather love Hermione, Ginny and the twins. And Luna, obviously. Everyone else I'd kind of like to stuff in a closet.

And Luna is a fun comic relief. :D

LOL yeah. Like even the characters who aren't teenagers are acting like teenagers.

You can't say that! I made a joke about PMS once and got my head bit off.

I'm rather partial to CapsLock!Harry. When Book 5 came out, I was recovering from surgery, so my sister and some of my med school friends read it aloud to me. I can still recall my sister's spot-on "Hem hem" that she'd provide. I got all enraged with Harry when I was listening too.
Ginny: ditto. I thought it was great that we had fleshing out of some secondary characters, and I loved the introduction of Luna, so I didn't think Anything Significant about learning more about Ginny. In fact, the summer after Book 5 was released, JKR would update her website with all of these cool random facts about people that didn't get worked into the story. Like Dean's backstory. She posted some little stuff about Ginny, like her full name, and the fact that she was the first girl in 7 generations and she was the youngest of 7 and the fact that she had been possessed was supposed to mean something. I know I read a lot of Ginny centered fanfic that summer! It was one of the reasons that I was soo diasppointed in Book 6 (my least favorite, I think), because all of that potential just fizzled.
And I love Hermione. Honestly, Hermione should have ended up with Krum, who at least admired her brains and fortitude.

In contrast to....?
Ron? I think Ron admired her brains. He knew she was smart and he was impressed with how clever she was. He just also calls her out on her less attractive qualities.

And it's cool she gave out some more facts on people. That kind of stuff is always fun.
I forgot to mention Hermione and Krum when I posted about GoF - I meant to. In the movie I thought the two of them together was beyond strange, but in the book I thought it was sweet.

And IA. I love Hermione. She isn't perfect and she has flaws, but she's such a lovable and relatable character.
I just find Ginny extremely dull and lacking in depth, but that's not her fault, exactly. The books are told from Harry's POV, and he's not really all that concern with Ginny through out PoA and GoF, so she kind of disappears and then all of a sudden she's this awesome! perfect! talented! person and we didn't get to see that transformation.

And yeah, that's the problem with one POV in this series. People come and go out of Harry's focus so you're never seeing the big picture.

The next book is where Harry attempts to set the record as the most emo teen ever recorded in fiction.

Capslock Harry always reminds me of
I guess that says something about how my mind works.

I had a bad experience with book five. I have a tendency to flip ahead in a book when I get it instead of reading from the beginning, and I came across one of the big shocks and it kind of ruined it for me.
My parents were terrified when I screamed bloody murder.
