Okay, what is tumblr? Some sort of longer-format version of Twitter? Or Facebook? (Eh. I much prefer a format where you can actually have a conversation with someone. You know, with sentences. :D)
Driving on SoCal freeways (and I'd hope most freeways) means going with the flow of traffic in whatever lane you're in. It does not mean "I LOVE LANE #3 AND I WILL BE IN IT NO MATTER WHAT SPEED I'M GOING." Morons.
I'm reading through The Cat Who... books before I start on all the recs. (I generally like to do one series at a time.) I mainly enjoy them even though the main character is sometimes a douche when it comes to women he dates. I file it under "older generation" mentality. But, you know, cats! And crimes! :D It's made me actually ponder getting a cat, but then I think of breathing and the smell and then I ponder getting a robot cat.
The trouble with a returning DW cast for S6 is that it really cuts down on the shocking news releases and rumors. It's less entertaining when there aren't claims of "THE DOCTOR WILL REGENERATE INTO A HAMSTER WHO IS REALLY ROMANA!" (Don't look for sense. It's DW.) Maybe Torchwood will cast soon or something.

IDK but I'm starting to inch towards paying attention to it since people keep posting pictures on it related to my interests.
Plus maybe sometimes you just want to post something that is too long for twitter but too short for LJ? Like "GUYS I STILL HATE THE HARPER GOVERNMENT OH HEY REMEMBER WHEN THAT PERSON THREW A PIE IN JEAN CHRETIEN'S FACE THAT WAS HILARIOUS." ??
Tumblr is like livejournal in PICTURE AND GRAPHICS ONLY FORM. With gifs and text posts and replies too, plus the option to ~like~ the pictures on your dashboard (which is like your flist), and no option to ~dislike~, which would be awesome if people didn't decide to reblog things you make that they hate so much they just HAVE to put it on their tumbles forever with mean, bitter things to say about it.

I know next to nothing about tumblr but even I have seen this! I was told, once upon a time, that tumblr was great for fandom because there was no wank! But there is wank. It's just 500% more passive-aggressive.
Tumblr is pretty much the Short Attention Span Theatre version of LiveJournal - it doesn't really do anything LJ doesn't, but it's picture- rather than text-oriented.
1. Tumblr is... tumblr. It's not good if you want to have conversations or discussions about things, BUT it is excellent if you just want picspams of things relevent to your interests. I follow a bunch of tumblrs including ones related to: Doctor Who, Buffy, fashion, Disney, Mad Men, Friends and 30 Rock. It's just fun for a quick fandom fix.
2. I AGREE. IF YOU WANT TO GO SLOWER, GET IN THE SLOW LANE. DON'T MAKE ME BRAKE OR BOX ME IN OR I WILL GLARE AND SWEAR AT YOU FROM THE SAFETY OF MY OWN CAR. (I'm very threatening, don't ya know?)
1. Hmm. It's probably a great source of screencaps, eh?
2. It bugs the crap out of me! The worst is when you see a slow person getting on the freeway, and then they keep moving over lane after lane, as if THAT IS THE ONLY LANE THEY CAN BE IN, THANKS.
1. Tumblr is like the hipster lovechild of Flickr and Twitter as I understand it.
4. Omg I know. Can't they at least film something that looks scandalous outside so we can get weird rumours from The Sun about it. I haven't even heard of or seen any filming photos or anything. I mean I haven't looked that hard, but usually they're all over the place by now.
Tumblr is kind of like a blog, but without any actual conversation. I mean, I'm told people talk in the comments section, but it actually ends up being [50 people you don't know] likes this.
I guess occasionally people "reblog" stuff and add comments? But every time I follow a reblog the only extra comment is "nice", or "well said" or "whatever, hatah".
So "longform Twitter" sounds about right, yes. or blogging for lazy commenters. Also, they tend to be prettier than the average twitter page.
"THE DOCTOR WILL REGENERATE INTO A HAMSTER WHO IS REALLY ROMANA!" You've put this on the net. Could end up as a headline in the Sun.
And I think we need a fanfic based on this.
Moffat allows NO SPOILERS apparently... I both hate that and love it. Spoilers do spoil things but I can't resist them (though I did fairly well this past season)

4. Speaking of Torchwood, I read an article about the upcoming series last night. I am excite. http://filmreviewonline.com/2010/08/15/torchwood-the-new-world-creator-russell-t-davies-on-another-returning-character/

And no spoilers are good, I guess, but it does make things less interesting.
