about e-readers. I have a nook, and I often use it to read fics. it only accepts pdf and epub with it's easy with openoffice to create a pdf and you can change the size of the text. only with documents that have been scanned, like old textbooks and screenplays is the text size set. I also use a fanfiction downloader program to save long fics.
there's a lot of ereaders out there now. it all depends on what you want. there's some good ones that can read nearly every format of books but which don't have wifi. I wanted one with wifi partly so I could go online and read fics. which I do. and it's fun.
there's ereaders that are like little tablets and others which are very, very simple. I like the nook cause it's got wifi and android so you install apps so it's worth the price. and it's $149 now.
the kobo is pretty good too. and only $129. I liked the cooler and the foxit but last time I checked both were priced $249. the pocketbook is pretty nice and costs $199.
most of the cheap ones don't have wifi though and for fic-reading is kind of an important feature.
you should check ebay, there's some cheap kindles there.
