I said that today was the day for fannish rage or something, and Disney's no exception.



So the Disney big-wigs had some kind of Special Live Press Event today, which had the Disneyland/World forums all excited. Would they announce a new ride? Is it about Disney World's upcoming 40th birthday? Nope! It was about their new ad campaign. They're launching a site where you too can upload your Disney pictures and videos which could be part of some publicity thing. This blog post is pretty amusing how it starts out with "I'm so excited? What's it going to be?" and descends into "You had a live press event advertising an advertisement?"

People are not jumping on the Disney bandwagon, especially when they find out that random people's pictures are going to be projected on Cinderella's Castle (and Small World at Disneyland). After all, who wants someone's giant head in the picture you're trying to get of your 5-year-old's first visit?

Okay, so the idea for using real guest pictures for advertisements seems kinda neat, but I really don't think the whole "putting pictures all over the Castle and small world" thing is a bit much. No matter how much I love Disney, I don't think I would enjoy having me face plastered up on one of those two places. What if I had a zit that day? Or if I happened to make a slightly weird face. It would not be cool
