Although I'm told that Guy Fawkes is about not blowing up Parliament and this is the Doctor actually blowing up Downing Street. But apparently the Doctor is Space British, so this all somehow relates.

Guy Fawkes Night is the best time of year!

The Gunpowder Plot was hatched near where I live, which is probably why we have such huge events for it.

We had our town firework display last night, though, because we have the Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival tonight.

And it is awesome.

You ought to see them in action.

A 100ft float with moving hydraulic parts lit up with 30,000 lightbulbs and with music blasting out and several dancers on the cart performing a routine for three hours around the route...it's amazing.

I was in carnival for a few years and it's brilliant (alas...it's also like having a second full time job, so I had to give it up when I started working out of town).
