I'm doing a rewatch of Veronica Mars and have gone through the first 2 seasons.

Veronica really is an awesome character, isn't she? I'm pretty sure I've never seen her exact type on any other show. She's this strange cross between a misanthrope and a sympathetic soul, but it works. It's like she's a 30-year-old stuck in a teenager's body, who can't believe she has to worry about bio exams and dear God does she actually have to go to the prom?
I'd forgotten how dull Duncan is. He oozes blandness. The only thing interesting about him was when he was on the potential suspects list for Lilly's murder. Otherwise the thing with Meg: dull. With Veronica: dull. Meg again: dull. Running off with his daughter was probably the best for him since he was already a middle-aged man.
I think Veronica has a good handle on dating Logan and everything that involves. She's dumped him once before when she didn't want to deal with his shit. I don't quite remember how S3 goes - I know they separate again - so we'll see how that goes down. It's fine for Logan to have Issues (he's pretty messed up), but Veronica shouldn't have to be responsible to fix those Issues.
The Lilly storyline is still the best, although it's much better when you don't know what happens.

Also, I happened to see the unaired S4 clip where Veronica's in the FBI. I was...unimpressed. I didn't think it was all that interesting. Maybe partly because the FBI thing has been done to death? Or because there were 25 guys in suits who all looked alike? I know Veronica's intelligence makes her perfect for FBI work, but I'd have loved to see her being a private investigator with her dad and delivering Veronica-style justice. Like getting back at a deadbeat dad with the help of Carl the bookie who owes her a favor. She deserves better than that, but what can I say? I'd love seeing her in that world.

Oh my, it's been AGES since I watched VM, but agree that the Lily storyline was best, and your description of Veronica is pretty much what I liked about her. Tossing in the fact that she still has some kid-like tendencies (seriously, there is no other reason for her to go back to Duncan, then a desperate attempt to be NORMAL like a lot of teenagers). Duncan was always more boring than lint.

That's probably VERY true. Veronica was a very different person compared to who she was in the flashbacks. Actually Meg basically is who Veronica used to be. Sort of not surprising Duncan is hung up on her.

The FBI promo thing wasn't very well done. It just seemed slapdash, and an obviously desperate ploy to stay on the air. Which failed, and considering my very unhappy feelings for S3, I'm kind of glad it did.

Originally I wandered off in the middle of S3, so I have no idea how it ends really. Hopefully I'll make it through this time. XD

Hehe, I get that. it was the least connected season (story-arc wise) so wandering off was easy to do.

Unlike S1, which forbids you from leaving the room the first time you watch it!

I'm so glad I originally marathonned S1. I can't imagine watching it in real time! TOO MUCH STRESS.

Fandom March Madness got me started on a rewatch this weekend. I managed the first four episodes. I had totally forgotten how awesome that show is.

Oh, I should rewatch, too! I have the first 2 seasons on DVD. I love Veronica so much! She's so smart and funny and sarcastic and AWESOME. Season 1 is definitely my favorite. I thought it was better when they did huge season long mysteries with other mysteries on the side, not when they had tons of mysteries in season 3.

S1 had a great flow to it! It seemed to be the right balance of overall mystery and individual mystery.

I'd be on board with that. I think personality-wise they're extremely similar. They've got that same kind of sarcastic sense of humor, as well as react very similarly to situations (although how they act can be quite different.) But they both could stand to be in long-term therapy.

I do ship Logan/Veronica very much, but I do agree that Logan has Issues and Veronica shouldn't fix him. Then again, S3 is also about how Veronica has issues and should change a bit for him (from what I remember-I never rewatch S3)

I'll have to watch for that dynamic this next season. I truly don't really remember much from S3 other than it lost my interest.

It tends to have that effect on people, yeah. Basically the only good thing about it is that Logan and Veronica were properly together for a while there.

Yay! I'm not alone rewatching those wonderful series! :D There was a fourth season? I didn't know... was Logan in it?

They wanted to do a 4th season, so I guess they filmed some stuff. I'm not exactly sure what the deal was.

This wonderful little film noir show brought me to primetime fandom and my feelings for Veronica did not change from the pilot to the very last episode. I adored her, sometimes wanted to shake her, was proud of her, cried for her, was frustrated by her, and always always rooted for her. A Nancy Drew for the underdogs, with sass, intelligence, wit to spare and so much pain and rarely seen vulnerability. Veronica took on Lamb with sarcastic grace, found friendship again with Wallace (who was such a wonderful, loyal sidekick), saved Weevil because she saw better in him and shared one of the best father/daughter relationships I have ever seen on television. And then there was Logan. And yes they were epic. KBell created a character on a show that to this day is given shout outs. I miss it and her so much.

I was so happy to see this. Veronica Mars continues to receive raves even after being off the air for so long. I loved this show and character for all three seasons and IMO the worst of VM was better then most of the swill shown on TV. It is gratifying that the little show that could still gets so much recognition.

My memory of this was that it was created as a pitch for a totally new show. VM: FBI. It wasn't supposed to have any of the other original characters and I'm glad it didn't happen.

Ugh. Not interested in "VM: FBI." Bleh.
