Let's just get the flawed logic of any kind of time travel story like this out of the way first. Walk in a little circle with me.

original!SG-1 goes to the past and makes a video tape.
Present day is changed to AU. As a result geek!SG-1 comes into being and there is no original!SG-1 to go to the past and make video tape.
Since no video tape has been made and original!SG-1 does not do whatever they did in the past to change things, the timeline would not be altered. Since it now has not been altered to create the AU, it would revert back to the original.
original!SG-1 goes to the past and makes a video tape...

But with this, and most other time travel stories, you gotta check the logic at the door.

Okay, I'm no longer worried about TPTB stranding us in an AU world going forward. :D
