Grizzly Man
The Discovery Channel aired Grizzly Man last night. It was pretty disturbing. This guy honestly thought he could live among the bears and be treated as one of them. The outcome was predictably tragic. He would talk about having respect for the animals, but it seemed like that really wasn't what was going on. Maybe it seemed like it in his mind, but as one person said, you don't try to desensitize wild animals to humans. You just don't.
I'm not sure you can come away from the documentary with any life lessons other than maybe "don't fuck with nature." He often spoke about how this was they way he wanted to live his life and was desperate to hold onto that. And maybe some could find that inspiring. I didn't, however. At the least he was misguided, but more likely was unbalanced.
