The day after...

Well, they had "Rock the Vote." Now what we need is "Back the Vote." Pissed off at the outcome of the elections because it didn't go the way you voted? Volunteer for your cause(s). Engage in dialogue to persuade a person (or two or twenty) to see your point of view (hint - starting out by calling someone a moron isn't a good way to win over a person.) Join a demonstration. In other words, *do* something about your disappointment *now* instead of waiting four years and thinking you've done your civic duty by casting a vote. "But I don't have any time," might be an excuse. Frankly, someone can tell me any excuse they want - it's not me they have to answer to. But if you're already active in this way, then *HUGS*. You are a groovy person.

Sorry if this sounds somewhat condescending, but I see all this anger. Raging in your journal is fine and all, but if that anger isn't channeled into doing something productive now, not four years from now, we'll have gotten nowhere when 2008 rolls around.

Okay, enough with the lecture. On to the "if you don't laugh, you'll cry" department. If you need a laugh right about now, go check out The Daily Show's "election blog."

I ran across a supposed IM chat between Karl Rove and Florida's Secretary of State Glenda Hood:

GlennyHeartsJebbby: Btw, just got another call from Jeb's daughter Noelle. She wants to know how to spell Oxycontin. Again.

RoveDaddy2000: That's okay, she's not part of my plan for the Dynasty anyway.

GlennyHeartsJebbby: Except as a breeder.

BWAH!!

I just think, imagine what could be done if all the energy that was put into getting people to vote was continued to civil activities. Think of what we could accomplish! :)

I like that. I might use that. It's so true.

Volunteer for social change or Die. P. Diddy ain't got nothin' on me.
