I had some general comments about this ep over here, but I couldn't resist a little Doctor/Rose jabber below.

I now have a feeling of foreboding after seeing the Doctor give in to Rose. (And this from a flag-waving shipper.) Not in the "will they/won't they" category, but in the "some bad shit is going to go down" category. He was *adamant* about her not seeing her parents since it would be Very Bad. And then he flopped just after a grin and some begging with her eyes.
  1. Rose *so* knows how to play the Doctor, but we've known that since last season.

  2. Doctor, Doctor, Doctor. In Father's Day he left (albeit in the form of a tantrum) when she tried to play him, but this time he gave in, which means the poor guy's pretty much sunk. (Hard to ignore the Father's Day parallels when it's all about Rose's father issue again.)
Yes, the cybermen situation is bad enough of a consequence, but why do I have the feeling this won't be the last we'll see of judgment-impaired Doctor because of Rose? Damn. Yes, there were quite a few very cute moments between these two in the ep, but I'm stuck with this foreboding.

ETA: After thinking about it some more, there was a difference in situations. In Father's Day time and space was being ripped apart. In this episode, probably nothing so drastic would have happened. Probably. So hopefully it isn't so dire that the Doctor's judgment has been compromised. *crosses fingers*

And one more little thing - now I'm 99% sure this had *nothing* to do with the Doctor, but the lines about "Why no emotion?" "Because it hurts." made me instantly think of the Doctor last week when he said "I'm always okay." Man of steel, much?

ETA2: Also, there's something going on with the Pete sign saying "trust me on this" (which is a *damn* odd ad slogan) at the same time the Doctor is telling Rose "if you've ever trusted me, you'll listen to me" but I can't quite put it together yet. Maybe it's simply holding up two men before her and who's she going to trust (or put her faith) in - a dream of something that never existed or the Doctor? And she chases the dream because she hasn't been able to let go. That "one foot in her old world/one foot in the Doctor's world" thing again perhaps?
