Still my journal.
Had to cut a snarky scene from an early part of the fic this morning and ever since then my writing mojo seems off. Loved that little scene. It was one of the first I wrote. It mocked canon! It's not my only canon mock in the fic, but still I am sad. Yeah, related to a plot hole that appeared after I figured out the whole AU thing. Oh, my mock was/is still valid, but the context no longer works. *sigh*
Although while the figuring things out did get that scene deleted, it also made me delete another scene I've never been happy with (and knew it had to be deleted eventually) staring the Doctor as a pissy 13-year-old. On crack. But the new direction did give me a valid, non-OOC replacement.
It feels like I'm writing filler today, so maybe I just need to stop for now. And the Doctor may be *too* cat-obsessed. On second thought, nah. Cats are evil. The Doctor knows this fact of the universe.
ETA: But I am happy with the fact that I've now separated out my A and B plots and have figured out exactly what I need yet with the A plot. After that I'll be able to determine the length of the B story which is more character-driven anyway. Nothing really *needs* to happen in the B plot beyond character development, which means I can throw in some random action scenes.
Of course, the denouement remains long as fuck. Like, LONG. 5-10 pages or so. But I keep telling myself that the *point* of the fic was to get these two back together and so I'm going to actually *do* something with it after that happens.
