DW - The Runaway Bride
Don't *think* I need the Crazy Filter for this.
- Eh, it was okay. Not just saying that because of the lack of Rose. You had some plot that involved particles...attracting other particles...that have something to do with spiders...and the TARDIS had a particle. For some reason. And a lot was played for cheesy laughs - seemed the most geared towards children to date.
- Could have done without the partial rehashing of The Christmas Invasion. Gimme NEW things! Also, I'm thinking that all of London will be staying indoors next Christmas.
- So...was there some sort of gas or something down in the basement when they were on the segues? With the laughter and all? I guess segues are funny. As opposed to lame. Huh. Not an actual joke, but an incredible simulation.
- Poor Doctor and flashing to Rose in New Earth. And then pushing it down right away. *pouts*
- "I'm not about to lose someone else." Awwwwww!
- Yay! The pan-dimensional surfboard from Boom Town! (Speaking of Boom Town...and then thinking of Jack - so, was Torchwood helping the spider? I really did not get that part. Like, at all.)
- Yeah, I needed the spider to stop hauling out the wedding lingo.
- "I give you one last chance." Hey! What happened to "No second chances. I'm that sort of a man."?
- "Gallifrey!" WOO! About damn time.
- Sidetrack pondering - I'm now seeing someone who is utterly jaded by the constant string of people running through the TARDIS. But he so *desperately* wants to connect with someone, and so the whole cycle is never ending.
The Doctor almost seemed fatalistic in the various Rose moments. Like he should have known better that he couldn't keep someone in his life; as if he himself believes he doesn't deserve that kind of thing. Donna was right - it's a terrible life. Fantastic, yes, and he tries so hard to highlight the fantastic. But it is terrible. And Rose wanted to share it with him for the rest of her life, in spite of the terrible. Even after having *seen* all the terrible. Maybe he didn't deserve her giving up her human life for his life, but deserving or not, she really did choose it, which is what made her departure even more tragic. And now he's back to the "I don't do that" with the domestic scene. Poor, poor Doctor. - "What was her name?" "Her name is Rose." Okay, I sniffled, just because of the way he choked up when he said it and said it in the present tense. It's just SO sad, because he *had* found that someone that Donna was talking about, and she's gone. WAAAAAAAAAAAAH.
