I left my decoder ring at home.
So I was taking a look at an emoticon list this morning. It's amazing that so many emotions or...things for lack of a better word can be expressed using just a few symbols. For example, <&&> means "concerning rubber chickens." Now I have never before felt the need to have a conversation concerning rubber chickens while communicating in English, but am happy that I can condense it to four keystrokes should the need ever arise. Now there are some smilies I'm sure I would use, like `-_-' which is "Have you hugged your wolf today?" or i-=<*** "Applying flame thrower" or {:\/ "sounds like a duck."
But what I really need are more business-related things like: \$+- "Mr. CFO, our budget may or may not be off due to the ever-rising CPI." Or %#(* "I'm fairly certain that constitutes sexual harassment and I'm taking this to personnel." Or even !@O.. "Yes, I'll go in on a pizza for lunch, but I'm going to have to work at my desk because I've got a report due. Do you want meat on it because I could go either way on the meat. And I think we should get an extra large because there are five of us."
