PSA: Drink that worm!

Beware the talking worm on AIM! Heard this on NPR this morning:

Apparently the worm can pretend to be someone on your buddy list and talk back to you, trying to get you to click the link.

I feel somewhat secure in that the people I sometimes chat with would never use "LOL." And if they would, they would get smacked upside the head. Hmmm. Maybe we need a safety codeword/phrase anyway. Like..."The sasquatches are running." Or "Take the time to shave your butt." Or "Fear Karen's tongue." Although the worm might naturally know that.

That would be an incredibly smart or incredibly disturbed worm, if that were the case, lol. But actually, the idea of having safe words is a good one. If a person wanted to be truely sure that his or her friends were the ones e-mailing them (sometimes viruses get sent through e-mails) you could set up a safety word that they're always supposed to have in the subject line. *ponders* It is quite doable..

Totally! I mean, if a worm can pretend to be a chat buddy, it could easily pretend to send an email from a friend.

Of *course* the worm would have information about Karen's tongue and butt shaving. LOL.

It's a smart worm!
