Also, I do believe that

goldy_dollar and I have stumbled onto a key to understanding New Who (well, S2 onward.) You see, we've discovered that DT's hair has very distinctive moods and can, in fact, get quite emo. And we have PROOF!

goldy_dollar pointed this out:

The hair is quite perky and bouncy as it, I mean he, shares a joke with Rose.

But then the TARDIS is gone! WOE! And he's trapped Rose! WOE! Emo!hair.

Then comes the awkward Mortgage scene where the hair attempts to flatten itself from fear. Much like a hamster.

The hair stops flattening and judges the situation.

And things aren't as bad as all that after all, and so begins to fluff.

Finally, in spite of the earlier hug, the hair's just not all that interested in Zach.

But instantly perks up when Rose comes around, in spite of being in a steam bath.

It was probably so subtle, you never noticed it before, right? And this is why DT's hair should be up for an award. *nods*
