I think this was my last new SG-1 episode. I gave it a shot after Jack left and it's just not working for me. That spark that once was there for me, just isn't. Where once I found a funny little sci-fi show that was willing to poke fun at itself, I now find one that wants me to take it seriously.

Last night's episode was...boring. Dull. Frankly, I was wondering why I was watching it. And that makes me sad considering how I once loved the show. But that being the case, I need to stop watching now before vague disappointment turns to something bitter. With that in mind:
    Dear SG-1,

I'm glad so glad you've found a new audience. Really, I am. I never wanted you to fizzle like the X-Files or turn into a joke like Alias. I'm glad that people still love you and new people are discovering you all the time. I wish you all the success in the world.

You probably know where this is going by now. Yeah, you were always the smart one. *sigh* I think we need to see other people/shows. We've both changed and it's only natural that we've grown apart.

I may still visit on occasion, if that's okay. Look through some old episodes. Maybe even write a fic or two. But you deserve more in a fan. And I deserve more in a show.

    Let's just be friends.

    All my best,

    Michelle

I actually didn't get a chance to watch it last night. My hockey game went to a shootout and thusly ran 15 minutes past 10 (when I watch SG1). And quite frankly, no Jack? I'd rather see my favourite hockey team in a shootout. Though, that would probably still be the case if Jack was on there.

I'm sure Jack would rather see the hockey game himself! ;D

Oh, Jack would've definitely chosen a shootout over now-less-interesting-than-it-once-was Sci-Fi.

Part of why I love that character. ;)

Yeah. :D I really miss him.

After reading your comment I see what you mean that it's looking for a new audience. It was a wonderfully silly show that was right (and wrong) on so many levels. ANd it wasn't just Jack leaving. The whole tone of the show has changed. So serious about itself.

I still let it play on the tv but if something comes up and I'm unable to see it, then too bad. I don't tape it.

And as for Atlantis, I hadn't realized that I had missed the cliffhanger three months ago. I just had no idea. And when the new season started I sat there wondering, What the hell is Ford doing there???.

Yeap, Battlestar is the only one I'm really worried about right now.

It was a show that walked a fine line of letting everyone be in on the joke but not being a joke. I think part of the problem is that Jack filled this sort of Everyman role. He wasn't an expert, he was just there due to circumstance. And being that "outsider" he was able to mock just about everything, beating the audience to the punch.

Ha! Whoops!

I did enjoy that last night - it still manages to surprise me.

I stopped after part one of the premiere, haha. I sat diligently through that and tried to like it, but it just wasn't happening.

I was entertained during the first episode or two, but it just kept fading for me. Oh well.

reality bites-doesn't it?

I have to say that I felt it to be an entirely watchable episode. I was half expecting more of the old SOSO-you know-Same old, Same old.

the scenes with Teal'c and Bra'tac and Teal'c and Gerak were well done. CJ has taken a decidedly more formal tone to his Teal'c though-his voice was deeper and more of something you would expect a Shakespearean actor to use. (now-just to be clear-I was not there when the Guild Theatre in the UK was first opened). However the scenes of the Jaffa Nation are something that does interest me. Nation building-how can it miss?

I really want to see more of BB-I think that he can fit in well there and frankly if he channels his farscape character-works for me.

The scene I found jarring though was the scene with Landry and Lam-Please!
She couldn't do this sitting at his side?? That was so impersonal-although Beau was very good in its affecting him-but it was jarring and too abrupt and that woman cannot act her way out of a paperbag.

This episode makes me wonder who really wrote it-surely it couldn't have been the same group of clowns that wrote the first half?

I think I'm shallow - that really doesn't interest me that much.

*snicker* Yeah, I wasn't really impressed with her.

It's probably shallow that I'm sticking with it for Cameron. I actually thought this episode was better, but still got bored at some points (mostly Landry-Lam because *snores*).

I had a strange feeling you'd be in it for Cam. ;D
