Comments on the Final 5's collections.
I decided to look at the final collections of the top 5 of Project Runway, and not wait to see the top 3 next week.
Here, if you want to look too.
Sweet P (not in the running): Wow. Those ranged from just okay to downright fugly. Sweet P? You do know that women generally don't like to emphasize their hips? Also, a zippered sweater tube? And that one with the plaid pants? How does that even match the top? I'd almost say she didn't put a whole lot of effort in this since she knew she wasn't in the running, but people are still seeing your work, right? They do it with the audience there, yes? So even if you aren't in the running, you still could impress someone in the fashion world.
Chris (not in the running): I'm glad I got to see it all now. With all that hair. :D His collection ranged from pretty to "...interesting." Now that I look at it all, a few of the pieces really did seem a bit dated style-wise. I know the judges complained about this with him during the competition, and doesn't look like he really ever broke away from that.
Jillian: Wow! I was pretty impressed by her collection! It was all interesting to me. All except the pointy shoulders on that one outfit. You could put someone's eye out with that.
Rami: Man, his pieces were all over the place to me. Some were interesting, some were boring, some were okay, and some were downright unflattering. (Like the one with the magenta pants and the black vest thing over the stripy shirt thing. It makes the model look twice as wide as I'm sure she is.)
Christian: I was surprised by him - he had about 5 or 7 outfits that really looked pretty much identical. Basically a variation on a theme - a belted/fitted long-sleeved top over black pants. I liked each one of those, but it seemed like a whole lot of repetition. Also, his big feather piece kinda looked like a rug. I did, however, like the floofy half-and-half dress. Floof!
Who I'd pick to win: Surprisingly enough, Jillian. Before looking at the outfits, I just assumed Christian would walk away with it.
HOWEVER, outfits in real life (or even on camera) never look quite the same in a still photo. There could be unflattering shots here and there, and you can't really see the details too well from these pictures. Also, I really know nothing about fashion or sewing, and so I'm just going on what appeals to me and nothing more.
