Hmmm. Maybe I was expecting too much in the scare department with this one. One thing I get from watching SM's episodes that they completely freak me out. It's not hard really, because I scare *really* easily. Seriously, 3.5 minutes is about all I can handle of Ghost Hunters before fleeing, and that's when they're watching video monitors back in their office. But this just wasn't all that scary to me. And a lot could have been massively condensed.

The Good
- Donna bonding with and then saying goodbye to the woman. It was both sweet and horrific.
- River, in spite of her god-aweful name. I will say though that she was pretty much exactly Dr. Elizabeth Corday from ER. Not sure if they told her to play the role that way or what. But anyway, I did like her character overall. (It's a bit hard to tell though because it seemed like most everything we get to see about her relates to The Big Mystery, so she could yet turn evil or something.)
The Bad
- This episode was...pretty much exposition. That's what I felt like I was watching - it was just the setup for the real story. So it all was a bit meh for me - not great, not horrible, just sort of there.
- No, really! I wanted to be scared in that Empty Child kind of way! And usually "less is more" for me, but in this case I *guess* I needed more. Or something. The actors tried to sell it, but it just wasn't working for me. Like when the Doctor said "you need to look scared," my face was pretty much their's. And it didn't change. SCARE ME! I'M AN EASY MARK! "Don't turn around" still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up! Very, very easy.

- So I suppose that River is the Doctor's future wife. Maybe? If that's the case, I want to know why the hell they don't travel together. What's up with that? o_O
You know, if they didn't give it a sort of romantic vibe already, I'd find it fantastically cool to learn she's the Doctor's daughter. It would fit why she doesn't travel with him, but yet still meets up with him. She even has this almost child-like TARDIS cover for her well-worn journal. (Who would do that as an adult?) And she's a *lot* like the Doctor. Really, really a lot. But we know she's not Jenny since she didn't know Donna, and they probably will do the future wife or something. Hopefully way way WAY in the future for me personally - watching a companion bring a different character dynamic to Team TARDIS is waaaay more interesting to me that watching a companion that brings the same character dynamic to the party. I had a bit of trouble with that when when watching Romana. Well, and a double whammy of if River's coming back already in 2010 or something - I just can't handle another Doctor romantic plot line. This show has completely killed my energy for that kind of thing. - NO REALLY. SCARE ME! BOO! ACK!
