- I've been a bad LJ-er lately. Energy/stamina is an issue right now, and so I've sort of gone into lurk mode. I do kinda miss all the LJ discussions (mainly about D/R, of course), but even the thought makes me tired at the moment.
- I've been walking in the neighborhood here to build up my strength, and I'm gobsmacked at the amount of houses I see with sprinklers going full blast during the day with water running into the street. Sometimes running down the block. So Cal is basically a desert with everything irrigated. We're in a water crisis, but yet people don't seem to care. God save us from the entitled or oblivious.
- HAAAAAAAAARRRRRRYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!! At least he's not dead but... The Russians are just taking him to go see Ruth, RIGHT?! And Ben! Damn! I liked him and wish there'd been more of him.
Overall S7 was much better than S6. They still felt the need to have an overall arc to the series, but at least it wasn't the main plot in every story. (Like the story about the kid and his mother, which was incredibly sad.) And they totally faked me out with Connie! Kudos!
Richard Armitage was a great addition to the cast - really nice to see him in a non-period piece. I saw he's signed up to be back in S8, so yay! Also, the person playing Ros will be back, which is good because I've become a complete Ros fan. Funny since I didn't really care for her that much in the beginning.
I suppose I should mention Adam, who went boom in the first episode. I hate to say it, but after S6 it was a relief to see him getting killed off. I seriously could not take any more of that plotline. I feel sorry for his kid though - both parents killed while working for MI-5.
The only thing I didn't get about S7 was why the Russians were doing all this. They kept trying to wreck Britain's economy (usually by blowing people up), and I have absolutely no idea why they would do that. The show kept mentioning that Russia wanted to become the next energy superpower. Okay. So? In order to do that, wouldn't they need economies around that could afford the energy they're selling? And economies that would actually want to do business with them? This is one of those Step 1: Get Underpants; Step 2: ??????; Step 3: PROFIT! things, isn't it?
Also, I know Harry has loads of secrets in his noggin, but wouldn't he be too big a fish to actually kidnap? It'd be like picking up the head of the FBI or something - the international political fallout would be insane. And I can't think of a single reason the UK would want to keep something like that quiet - there'd much more to be gained by screaming to the media than to cover things up due to embarrassment or something. However, if there's one thing this show has taught me, it's that the British government is weird. :D
Anyway, I would bet that Ros might be in line for Harry's job (I got suspicious about Harry's fate when the Home Secretary had a line like "which part of Harry did they use when they cloned you from him?" in an early episode.) And Lucas will probably become Section Chief. (Or whatever they call it.)
When does S8 start?
