So Starbucks was giving away free samples of their "Drinking Chocolate" just now.

Yeah, um, I guess it is like drinking liquid chocolate.

There is a café in Leuven where if you are hot chocolate, they give you hot milk and a small cup filled with chocolate. You then have to melt the chocolate in the milk yourself. Mmmmmmmm.

That sounds *fabulous* and much better than the block of melted sugar I just had.

Someday I will get to Europe if only for the chocolate.

HA!!

Yes, but was it any good? I was there yesterday and decided not to get one because a) it was tiny and b) it was friggin' expensive. But it sounds yummy, so I may ignore that and get some tomorrow.

It was too sweet and rich for me - it's like 3x as sweet and thick as normal hot chocolate. But I'm not a very big sweets person to begin with. I think I'll just stick to my nonfat lattes and my seasonal eggnog lattes.

[identity profile] j-guda.livejournal.com 2005-01-14 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
It sounds like something I would try once, go "OMG I NEED MILK" and not finish. I guess I'll stick to my vanilla mochas.

mmm. eggnog lattes. I would wish they we year round, but I usually end up buying two a day, so I would be really fat, broke and hyper all the time.

Yeah. Did I mention thick?

Ha! Yes!

Yeah, this is what I feared with this drink. :P

I really love a good cup of hot cocoa though. I think that's the difference. I'd much prefer cocoa to chocolate. Especially dutch-process cocoa. Mmmmm.

Nothing to do with anything but wienerdogs

My favorite has to be the one where they're feeding the dog whipped cream from a can.

YES!

That explains the freakishly long line this morning.

I'll stick with my Mochas--chocolate and caffienne!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2005-01-14 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Gotta have the caffiene!

Interestingly enough, "drinking chocolate" is what cannisters of hot chocolate powder (i.e. Nesquick) are called in the UK. And if you add enough of it, it really is like, well, drinking sludgy, liquified chocolate... ;) Not as sweet as the US equivalent, though. More chocolatey.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2005-01-14 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh. Well, the texture sounds right. But yeah, it's very very very very very very sweet. *quickly drinks black coffee*

mmmmmmm chocolate......

.... that would go down very, very good right now....

I do love a good cup of hot chocolate, but that... Meep! :D
