I watched The Deathly Hallows again. This time a few more things...

  • Ron really is going to be the most whipped guy of all time when married to Hermione, isn't he? XD

  • I swear Harry is already a middle-aged man. He'd look comfortable in a cardigan.

  • There's really no mention about them deciding not to do their last year of school. In the book it seemed like a pretty big decision. Or was that in HBP?

  • I wish there could have been more with the wedding, although I get it's an easy thing to cut. I mean, the whole thing will be about 5 hours long already.

  • Wasn't there more to Godric's Hollow? More about Dumbledore and his brother or something? This is the first movie I've seen after I've read the book, and I keep noticing missing things without remembering exactly what's missing. I think I liked watching the movies first better.

  • During the battle with the snake, what was the deal with crashing through a wall into a brightly-painted nursery? Did...did they accidentally crash into the next movie over or something?

lol yeah there was more drama~ to Godric's Hollow in the book, backstory about Dumbledore and Grindelwald's ~sneaky affair~ and how Grindelwald kinda-sorta-probably killed Ariana (the sister) and that is why Aberforth (the brother with the goats) is not very fond of Dumbledore and why Dumbledore has a lot of secret angst, etc etc. I don't remember the movie too well but I don't think they really got into it at all.

Oh, that's sounding familiar. They didn't get into it at all in the movie.

My memory of the movie is basically "Dumbledore and That Guy are totally friends!" Did they go into Grindelwald being Wizard Hitler at all?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2011-04-17 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
There wasn't really anything about Grindelwald that I can remember.

LOL I think I remember being like "um but how is Ten supposed to write Dumbledore/Grindelwald without this crucial information."

The Aberforth and Ariana backstory really doesn't show up in the books until near the end when they actually meet him and he tells them about the whole Dumbledore/Grindelwald thing.

Why does my brain remember these things but couldn't remember parts of a cell in senior bio?!

Killing your lover's sister is always a great idea. I wish I would have thought of that for my sister-in-law before she had her evil devil spawn children.

I think they crashed into the next house, since all the houses in the row were connected?

Maybe that's it. It seemed a bit weird.

Apparently if you crank the volume you can hear Snape say "Trust me" right before the doe patronus shows up, which would pretty much kill me with glee, if I ever get around to buying the DVD.

Really? I'll have to see if I can hear that.

Um...I don't think they find out about Dumbledore also being from Godric's Hollow until the second half, once they've connected with Luna. I'm not sure.

Could be. I'm not really an expert on what happened when.

I love these posts, I was wondering if I made a mistake not watching the films even though I dislike the books violently, but from these posts, I think I'm good. Also, coincidentally a trailer for the movie just played on the tv and I can totally see your middle-aged Harry Potter comment. OMG the hair XD

I didn't feel like I needed to read the books first. The movies make their own sort of sense.

Cardigan-wearing while sitting in his armchair reading the newspaper and patting his children on the head. :D

While smoking his pipe.

Lol, I meant to say "book" I only violently dislike the seventh book.

The nursery thing always bugged me, too!! I kept wondering if it was supposed to be some weird symbolic something or other, but it just seemed strange.

Yeah! I was thinking about Harry's nursery and...it was just bizarre staging that I don't think really worked.

Yeah, they made the decision to not do their final year in the previous book. There were several occasions in this movie where it seemed they had to explain things because the previous movie failed to show them. (Even characters.)

I hate the HBP movie so much. They made up so many things and left out so much while this is probably the most important book. I was just so annoyed with it. At least DH made up for it. I was very worried it'd suck too.

I noticed that. There were several "oh by the way..." moments. :D

HBP always amuses me in its overall pointlessness. Even the big reveal of Snape as the Half Blood Prince is like "So?" XD
