I'm sure this is some sort of show logic, like how that one time Jack Harkness magically obtained life-giving lips. Anyway, I thought about finding a cap of that woman in DW with the straw to relate to this, but *GAGS*. In the TVD mythology a vampire is made when a human drinks vampire blood AND then dies. Elena hasn't died yet, so she doesn't become a vampire just by dreinking the blood.

Basically Damon is like ETERNAL LIFE IS NOTHING WITHOUT KATHERINE, I AM GOING TO WAIT FOR THE SUN TO GREET ME AND DIE OF A BROKEN HEART ETC. ETC. and Stefan is like "....uh mte" but then he accidentally kills and eats his daddy, as one does, and becomes a vampire.

So Stefan goes back to Damon and is like "BEING A VAMPIRE IS THE BEST, I LOVE KILLING PEOPLE p.s. I brought you a blood buffet" and Damon is really dramatic and says "NOOOOO" a lot but then eats the blood buffet, as you do, and turns into a vampire. ANYWAY Stefan is all "Now we can braid friendship bracelets and be together forever XD XD XD" and Damon is like "NO, BROTHER, INSTEAD I WILL GIVE YOU AN ETERNITY OF MISERY!!!!" and stomps away.
