That might be part of it for me. It felt very fan meta-ish to me. Very like what fandom's imagined already.

I just don't know how they'd pull off a Thin Man remake. Hmm.

I didn't hate it. I didn't understand some of it but I didn't hate it. However it proved that I'm not a Matt Smith fan. I find his delivery odd. A lot of people say that's his characterization which is fine...I just can't relate. I can't watch him at all in interviews so I guess that's saying something.

I still didn't like Amy. I often want to smack her. Since I've always felt the companion is the person I relate to that's never a good sign.

I'll stick with my fic reading and wait this incarnation out and see what happens.

I really can't relate to his characterization of Eleven either. Not sure if it's the writing or the acting though. Probably a combo of both.

I'd say come watch Parks & Rec with me but A) it's only got one week/ two episodes left this season and B) I'm not really into the fandom, I just really love the show. I want to write a post about it but I am so backlogged with writing! ~~I must semi-owe you like five fics. Maybe I could try to write you a fic a month for a while.~~

I grew up with the Thin Man movies -- my folks love black and white mystery films and even to this day if I am home for any length of time we often pop in one of the films from our boxed DVD set, pop some popcorn, and enjoy.

I guess the question is -- how do make a character like Nick Charles palatable for the 21st century? He was sort of the lovable drunk, the functional alcoholic, and that's not really kosher these days.

Besides which -- Johnny Depp? Really? Playing another off-balance drunk? *sigh* Oh well, I suppose.

I've been thinking the same thing. I'm not sure how they could translate the characters. I'm guessing they'll be quite a bit different.

I still feel disconnected from New New Who. I saw the old console in last night's episode and I missed it. Now the show is more a fun ride, enjoable for 45 minutes than it is "OMG, I need the next episode nowwwwwwwwwww" At least we still have s1-4/4.5, right?

It's okay. I've been out of touch since the start of series 5 perhaps even while the specials with 10. :/ A lot of my flist is like that. We've moved on to other fandoms.

Yeah, if I'm honest, it really started losing me through the specials already.

Maybe we can both escape to the Torchwood fandom together!
