Downton Abbey
OMG, this show totally wins at melodrama! I was giggling a few times at the pearl-clutching and hand-to-the-forehead stuff. This show is so much fun! WWI soap opera!
- I love the Harriet Jones and Prof McGonagall show! They're in a position to argue philosophically about the goings on of Downton Abbey. (Sometimes getting carried away and not thinking of the lives affected in their arguments, especially Cousin Isobel. She tends to have a black-and-white morality, while the Dowager's is very grey.) So they offer this sort of above-it-all commentary on the ongoing shenanigans.
- The Dowager got in some funny lines again - Maggie Smith must have loads of fun with them. She's sort of turning into The Cool Granny. Mwah.
- Mary and Matthew: could two people pine any harder? XD I expect they'll go through lots of angst this season, spend a bit of time engaged to other people, then finally admit their love. Although I suppose they could go really angsty and have one of them get married, drawing things out for another season or so.
- Mrs. Bates is EVIL. Heh. (Recognized the actress from The Tudors.) But at least people are starting to know that she's forcing Bates to do things. My prediction: MURDER MYSTERY. There would be a few people who would love to see her dead. But Bates was happy before she turned up and so CLEARLY that had to be squashed. XD
- Matthew's fiance looked really familiar to me - the actress was in an episode of Ghost Whisperer and an episode of Poirot, so I guess that's where I've seen her. I don't really have much of an opinion on her, other than it looks like she's got her own drama going on in the preview next week.
- Sybil's storyline looks promising. I'll be interested watching her start up with being a nurse. (I'm fairly indifferent to the sort-of romance with the chauffeur. But then I'm not overly invested in any of the romances going on.)
- I'm not super annoyed at Thomas for wounding himself to get out of the trenches. Yeah, the guy's a dick, but it's clear he's got massive psychological trauma going on. He'll come home with a whopping case of PTSD and in those days they didn't know how to treat it. I actually feel kind of bad for him at the moment.

And yeah, I don't really care for Sybil/Branson. She doesn't really seem all that into him. But I am VERY interested to see how her experiences nursing will shape her.

XD They are cracking me up right now with all their DRAMA.

I think she needs to go through this whole nurse/independence thing first before she can even think about any sort of romantic relationship.

THIS! Dude, when Violet openly admitted to actually agreeing with Isobel? I was waiting for one of both of them to be struck by lightning or something. Hee!

I love the Harriet Jones and Prof McGonagall show!
They are pretty awesome together now. You described their relationship perfectly. I gotta say I'm on Violet's side just 'cause they're gonna run out of guys to staff Downton once Isobel's sent them all off to war.
Mary and Matthew's angst is at the perfect level right now - enjoying the hell out of it; I really hope they don't drag it out for years, though - had rather too much of that =P

Everything that comes of Dowager's mouth is pure comedy gold.
