Why am I watching How I Met Your Mother again?

I haven't seen all the eps this season - just the first episode and this one - but do they have to make Barney and Robin so damn good together? STOP MESSING WITH OUR MINDS, WRITERS. Like both of them on their laptops checking out Ted's girlfriends, and other things that make them seem like co-dependent BFFs. I love it when Barney and Robin are in that mode, even more than I like their romance modes.

Like when they're trying to one-up each other by running around in museum stuff, or having bros night out playing laser tag. They act a lot like Marshal and Lily in the sense that they've got their own little world going on. One that usually involves elaborate dares. XD

Anyway, since apparently Barney is getting married (I saw an article with a writer saying that this is an end game for the character in the overall scheme of things), I'll be disappointed if it isn't Robin. I'd like to think it will be Robin, but the whole handling of their breakup a couple of seasons ago was so douchey, that I don't trust these writers a lick. Plus this is a sitcom and is prone to doing stupid stuff by its very nature.

I've also been watching reruns of HIMYM lately. I have NO idea why. I guess it's been appealing to me again.

1. I still love how much of a sex fiend Lily is. She not-so-secretly interested in anything and everything. XD

2. Robin is still awesome, bless her gun-toting Canadian heart. And Robin Sparkles is the BEST.

3. I still do not care in the slightest about Ted and his relationships. None of them. He can scoot off to the background for all I care.

ETA: Oh! One more thing about last night's episode. That dude who plays Robin's boyfriend has horrible comedic timing. Seriously wretched. Just about every one of his lines fell flat when they should have been moderately humorous.

Yes. This. I would watch a show called "Marshall, Lily, Robin and Barney have Funny and Sometimes Sexy Tiemz".

Exactly!

It's sucked me back in, too! I just can't resist Barney and Robin, whether they're in friends mode or romance mode.

I like the comment about this being an end-game for Barney. If that's true, it could be robin - part of why they broke those two up was to keep Barney a womanizer, so if that's going to change... But yeah, hard to trust them. We'll see!

Totally agree about ted and his relationships. I liked Victoria, but otherwise... I really don't even like Ted much. He's kind of pathetic.

I couldn't resist trying to hunt down spoilers, just because if Barny and Robin are meant to crash and burn again, I want to know ahead of time! But they're being very closed-lipped about who the bride is. *EYES THE WRITERS*

Yeah, I totally flounced last season, but I would be incredibly surprised if Barney doesn't marry Robin. Or, in true sitcom fashion, he'll be all set to marry Norah and then Robin will be all ~oh but I still love you~ and BARNEY WILL REALIZE HE LOVES ROBIN TOO :O and all that. IDK the writers made some comment about how the wedding wouldn't go "smoothly", so make of that what you will.

Ted/River Song OTP tbh

Yeah, they'll probably pull a Friends and have Barney say Robin's name at the altar or something. Silly sitcom writers.

Ted/River Song OTP tbh

BWAH!!! Haaaave you met Ted? Lily would probably try to break them up since River wouldn't pass the porch test.

lololol that Starter for Ten movie had someone pulling a Ross! And Hannah and I's first reaction was LOL ROSS

It has to be Robin! Because of the duckie tie. He asked Ted earlier this season if he should have married the duckie tie instead (or words to that effect). Well, he's wearing the duckie tie while dating Nora. So she has to be the duckie tie. I also just like typing the words "duckie tie." Duckie tie.

If it's not Robin, then they wasted so much about this show. It may not have been what they set out to do, but it happened and it works.

And Robin Sparkles is the BEST.

I have a Robin Sparkles Mall Tour t-shirt! (I also have a Slap-Bet Commissioner one.0

I mean! They're so GOOD together! They fit so well! If they end up with other people it'll be a huge letdown.

BWAH! Awesome.

Every time I see the title for this show, I mentally rename it "How Your Uncle Barney Met Your Aunt Robin" because, since day one, they are the only two I am really interested in. Also, 2 and 3? YES.

A Barney/Robin wedding had better be the endgame otherwise I will cry.

*snickers* I like that name WAY better! Much more apt. Seriously, 95% of this stuff can in no way have any bearing on Ted's future wife! Yeesh!

Gonna go against the crowd. I LOVE Ted Mosley. I think his search for true love is very Arthurian in nature. I think he is a perfect POV character and I like that no matter how many times he gets kicked down (i.e. Barney sleeping with his ex girlfriend and Stella literally pulverizing his heart)he still believes there is "the one" out there for him.

I love his chemistry and interaction both individually and in the group. Ted is the focus and has an amazing cast backing him up.

I LOVE TED!!!!

:D He needs his fans!

I also kind of like Ted. He's one of those guys that often gets in his own way, but there's something about him that endearing. I think that's part of the "real person" charm of this character, that he's very cool but also very... not. I also like that a lot about him is gender blurred, and he reads as feminine in some ways and masculin in others.

I do agree with kamm that Ted is kind of lynchpin of the group, but I agree with the prevailing opinion that his endless search for The Mother has gotten a bit tiresome. I care about Robin/Barney 100 times more than Ted and whoever. (The lead fandom theory right now seems to be that The Mother is Barney's sister.)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2011-10-19 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
Barney has a sister? Man, I need to catch up with this show!

Honestly it's a little sketchy in my memory too, but people swear that he's mentioned a sister who's never appeared on the show. Maybe they're full of crap ;)

I LOVE HIMYM, but I totally agree that Ted could almost be killed off and the show could go right on without him. It's like every time he meets a girl, they go "And that's how I met your mother... psych!" And I'm like, "DUH, HE'S NEVER GONNA MEET THEIR MOTHER BECAUSE SHE'S A FICTION OF HIS IMAGINATION, AS ARE HIS CHILDREN." Even though his son is David Henrie who is now on Disney Channel and that cracks me up. Oh and then there was this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-jYkwFJuO0&feature=related :D

I adore Lily and Marshall as a couple and Robin and Barney as a best friends/more to it couple. Barney is the best, and maybe it's just me, but I feel very personally connected to Lily, since I feel like we have much in common, maybe even including something you mentioned in this post... And I seriously hope/think that Barney will in fact marry Robin.

Or I will punch someone.

BWAH!!!

And check out what Ted's offspring is up to! :D

I love them together in the romantic sense just as much as bffs, but I think that's because if it's done right, that's how a romantic relationship between them SHOULD be (which the writers didn't seem to get, and by forcing them into something they weren't, instead screwed it all up).

HIMYM (Barney/Robin) fanvids! (There may be some minor spoilers for 5x02-5x05 since you said you hadn't seen those yet).

I've actually grown to like Ted over the years (usually when he's being his most annoyingly pretentious haha) but I've never cared all that much about him/his relationships (I do want to know who the mother is though, dangit! enough already!). I've always cared about Barney & Robin than Ted's anctics, honestly as I think someone else said above.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2011-10-19 01:48 pm (UTC)(link)
That's one thing that made me flounce last time around - the writers seem to only know how to write that sitcom-y type of relationship. Which...yeah, it's a sitcom, BUT STILL. :D

But any interest I had in the mother was wiped out years ago. I just don't really care.
