I love it when things are simple.

You know how fanfiction.net is an evil place? And one of the reasons is that it's horrible to read fic there, but if you want it on your ereader you have to cut and paste and stuff?

Fan Fiction Downloader

It will download multiple chaptered fics from ff.net (and a few other sites) and throw them into mobi or epub or pdf files, all formatted and everything! I've tested one and it works! (Well, it seems like it works - haven't read the fic all the way through yet.)

UGh, I hate copying/pasting each individual chapter. That's why I love Teaspoon. You just click on Story, and copy and paste the whole thing in one go.

Oh, man, it looks like this only works on Windows? No Mac? :(

Butting in to point to the application homepage. It doesn't have a Mac version, but it does have a linux version and an experimental web based version. I think I tried out the web version before downloading the software, and it appeared to work. I ended up with an ebook from a ff.net link, but I don't think I read thru a whole fic to check it, and it was... not the fastest process I've ever witnessed. (But definitely quicker than a copy and paste effort.) Hope this is of some use.

If this is true, I've died and gone to fanfic heaven. Will try this at home tonight

Thank you so much for linking this programme - finally one that actually works with ff.net! *happy dance*

It's SO nice. In the past I completely avoided long fics on ff.net. It just wasn't worth it. But this works!

I can testify to the awesomeness of this software. It is very awesome. Also. The homepage for the software.

This may be a stupid question, but hey, I'm new at this. Is there something like this that works with LJ? I mean, if I wanted to grab a big multi-chaptered fic from a friend of mine and ebup or mobi it, is there a utility to do that?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2011-11-03 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't seen like something like that yet. I'm guessing it'd be pretty hard for a program to suss out which LJ posts belonged to a fic and which didn't. It'd be AWESOME though.

Glad to pass it along!
