Eh. Meh. It was okay, but honestly I got a bit bored. It all felt fairly generic, and I really felt nothing for any of the characters nor their connections to each other. The best part about it was Tommy Lee Jones. Oh, and Hugo Weaving's forever-mesmerizing eyebrows. XD

As boggling as it is to say this, I think I liked Thor better than Captain America. At least with Thor it was (unintentionally) hilarious. (Douchebag vs. emo genocider IN SPACE? What's not to love? XD)

Having now seen Iron Man, Thor and Captain America, I've determined that I don't care about two thirds of the characters in The Avengers movie. Basically I'd like another Iron Man movie, please.

Are you planning to expand your repertoire to the Hulk before watching Avengers? Or, well, not?

I understand this entirely, though. I'm basically only interested in the X-Men franchise, and most of the movies have 0.1% to do with them, except through convoluted comics ways.

Oh man, there's another one that'll be part of it? Eh, guy turns into green guy when he gets mad. I've probably caught the gist of it. :D

[identity profile] rosaxx50.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
Well, the only one of the three best-known Avengers' movies I've seen is Iron Man I (which I loved. Can't find the second one. Woe) , so I can't actually comment on quality, but you could also say that it's all about 'rich boy builds robotic suit' with cute main pairing, yes? :P

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
XD Yes. Yes you could.

[identity profile] rosaxx50.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
I think I asked to be friended based on the Doctor/Rose stuff, so I never actually found the opportunity to ask: are you solely interested in the Marvel movie-verse stuff, or also in the expanded comics/tv shows/books/whatever universe?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
I've only ever seen the movie stuff. Never seen/read anything else.

[identity profile] ericadawn16.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
I ended up buying Iron Man 2 at Target because it didn't seem to be anywhere.

As for Captain Anerica, well, I've bought X-Men, X-Men 2, Iron Man 2, X-Men: First Class and Thor but not Captain America. It would have to be like two bucks to be worth it because the best parts to me were Steve, Howard and Peggy. Unfortunately, we really didn't get much of them together and it makes me all the more curious about Howard and Maria and how that happened...

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
Howard was a bit more interesting. Frankly I could have watched a movie about him instead of Captain America.

[identity profile] ericadawn16.livejournal.com 2011-11-30 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I would love a movie about Howard. I also find Agent Coulson and Pepper Potts interesting. I think it's that idea of them being "normal" and helping out even though they know someone else will be getting all the glory.

The Agent Coulson short film would be another reason why I might possibly buy the Captain America dvd at some point.

I also wish there was more fanfic with them. Everything seems to be Steve/Tony.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2011-11-30 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Steve/Tony? Really?? That...makes no sense. Other than fandom will always slash hot guys. O_O

[identity profile] ericadawn16.livejournal.com 2011-11-30 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it's a combination of two hot guys being together and the insistence that the more two people appear to hate each other, the more they must secretly want to fuck the other's brains out...like when people insist on shipping Draco/Harry.

Still, I want to write a Howard fic about him after failing to find Steve in the arctic.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2011-11-30 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I guess there's that. :D Talk about an epic personality/morality/worldview clash! Very like Draco/Harry, I suppose, only without one being the bad guy.

[identity profile] rosaxx50.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, I keep avoiding Captain America because I really like Steve/Sharon comic-verse, and I'm not sure how I would feel watching her... grandmother? Aunt? Onscreen with him. But I'll keep that in mind with IM2. If all else fails, I'll go running through the video rental stores.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
That reminds me of Wonder Woman. Wasn't she all chummy with one guy and then later on with his son? Sort of odd.

[identity profile] rosaxx50.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
Steve the cradle-robber :D

I have no clue about Wonder Woman. Basically, I know nothing about DC comics, while Marvel is... like my second life or something. I wonder if the Steve & Sharon stuff or the Wonderwoman and man's son stuff came first.

I was pleasantly surprised by Captain America because he has always been one of my least favorite of the Marvel characters. We went because the husband wanted to see it and I was mildly entertained, which is better than bored out of my skull. Hugo Weaving chewing the scenery is always fun, though.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
His eyebrows alone could do a fair amount of gnawing! XD

[identity profile] solielle.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
I really enjoyed it, but that might be because I have a soft spot for Marvel, and I find Chris Evans very enjoyable to watch.

That said, it really felt like half a movie. I can understand why this one would be more boring to people than any of the others. The CGI on pre-Captian America Steve also creeped me the fuck out. It was less icky than it could have been, but there were still scenes that really made me shudder.

I'd say the Iron Man movies have still been the best of the Avengers set of movies, in my opinion.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, when it ended it was "that's it?" (But I didn't care about watching more anyway, so...) And the CGI did get to me every once in a while too.

HMPH!

[identity profile] shinkonokokoro.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I admit. Am a little bit sad to hear this because I loved the other two movies. Not as much as Iron Man, but I liked them. They were entertaining.

And I'm hella excited for Iron Man 3. It seems like no one's mentioned that yet, and I don't know if you knew, but they're making it! Dunno what the plot will be yet, but I'm hoping they'll do some Extremis stuff. :)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
YAY for Iron Man 3! I'll totally watch that!

[identity profile] shinkonokokoro.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Yaaaay more smart-arse Tony! :) I love him so much. That's one midnight showing I know I'll be at. ;)

[identity profile] ericadawn16.livejournal.com 2011-11-30 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but I'm a little sad about it since Jon Favreau is doing the Magic Kingdom movie instead so it'll have a totally new director and...

A new director could bring an interesting new perspective while keeping the same level of quality or crash and burn...

Plus, it's Shane Black which is good since he's worked with RDJ before, but honestly...I was so bored with Kiss Kiss Bang Bang that I fell asleep.

Then, I'm also not sure about Patty Jenkins for Thor 2 although she did do an episode of Arrested Development...

[identity profile] shinkonokokoro.livejournal.com 2011-11-30 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm... New director. Well. I guess we'll see! I hope they do something with Extremis. And I'm not sure who they're going to pick for an enemy because Iron Man never had any really great enemies... Except for the Mandarin. Which I heard they're not doing? I dunno...

I essentially watched Kiss Kiss Bang Bang for RDJ... It was kind of dull.

Thor 2!? Je suis excite! That sounds like fun! And I have not gotten around to watching Arrested Development yet,...

[identity profile] ericadawn16.livejournal.com 2011-12-02 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
Everyone should watch Arrested Development...

[identity profile] shinkonokokoro.livejournal.com 2011-12-02 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, that's what I've been told. I've been told I would enjoy it. :)

[identity profile] elirrina.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Isn't there going to be an Iron Man 3? Yes, I'm pretty much mainly interested in how Tony Stark relates to the others. LOL.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2011-11-30 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
Apparently there is! And if I'd watch The Avengers, it'd totally be for Tony Stark and the Iron Man peeps.
