So Gatiss confirmed that The Empty House will be first up in S3. Not really surprising at all unless they wanted to do "John Watson: The Emo Years."

I'm not sure if he's writing that episode, but he did say Gatiss added: "I always found it a little unlikely that Dr Watson's only reaction was to faint for instance - as opposed to possibly a stream of terrible swear words."

BWAH!! Yeah, I could see that. XD XD

I mean, it's not unexpected but I didn't want them to skip to a more "interesting" story and handwave the return.

But dammit, I hope this one's kind of true to the original. I just find it so fucking awesome and funny that Watson is being a creeper at crime scenes when an old bookseller crashes into him, stalks him home, and then turns out to be Holmes and Watson faints and then they like cuddle for the rest of the story while evading death. So John can swear all he likes. But I want a faint too.
