I've only seen it once, but I liked it!! Have you read this? Is Thor a feminist movie? (Yes) - good article!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't seen that! I'll check it out!

Yeah I really liked it! An Flister posted it last week. I thought it was cool because it shows a more realistic/favorable view of 'real' women that nowadays we should see in movies/TV. I didn't even realize any of those aspects in Thor until I read the meta!! And now since then, I've been looking for it in everything I've seen since XD

It is nice to see a woman who isn't simply arm candy for the superhero.

I still believe that Thor is the golden retriever of people. Sweet, loyal, and capable of some strong intelligence, but more often than not, running around hoping for a cookie.

To quote a favorite story: "Thank god (he's) pretty."

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
XD It reminds me of the icon you used to have with Ned that said something like "Oh honey, you're just not too bright." (I think it was you.)

[identity profile] aj.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
*LAUGHS* It was me! OH, NED. Ned and Thor would probably get on like a house on fire. Meanwhile, Tony and Bruce are doing the -.^ at Jane, while she drinks her coffee and makes comments about house boys.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Ned and Thor would totally go out to whack at mailboxes. Ned would drive and Thor...wouldn't use a bat.

*laughs so hard she starts coughing* Oh, my god. I want that movie. DESPERATELY.

You should write me that fic.

BTW: I actually watched it last night, but fastforwarded through everything not on Earth (or that didn't have Frigg in it.) I enjoyed it quite a bit more!

Thor: BE PREPARED TO MEET YOUR DOOM, EVIL BOX OF MAIL. WE ARE DOING GOOD, YES?

Ned: LOL SURE! Probably. I don't know. Nancy usually tells me these things and she's off solving a mystery in Germany or something. BUT IT'S AWESOME.

Thor: THEN WE SHALL CONTINUE IN THE NAME OF SOME OF AWE.

When you said Ned, I thought you meant Ned Stark. Still applies, doesn't it?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
It's probably still apt. XD

I know why you're watching it, formula notwithstanding:

Actually, maybe this says more about why I'd watch that movie again than it does about you.

Hmm.

Now that I have that picture I cannot stop staring at it.

Oops.

I want the full frontal shot .. where he almost doesn't look human (but then, of course, he's not).

Ha!

(Man, I need some new icons.)

I WATCH IT FOR THE PLOT.

He's actually surprisingly much more eloquent in the comics, or at least what I've read of them with him in it (Ultimates).

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
I don't see how he could be less eloquent. XD

[identity profile] elirrina.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
I love how Natalie Portman hits him with a car twice and the intern tazers him. :D

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
All deserved, IMO. XD

[identity profile] solielle.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
I loved that when someone was all, "You TASERED him!", the intern was all, "Yeah, I did." Very smugly. She won my undying devotion for that line delivery.

[identity profile] elirrina.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Yesss, I love that!

I'm not very big on superhero movies in general. Some are okay, others... Meh. Like I liked Spider Man and Iron Man, but Captain America was not a hit with me. I wandered off from the latest Batman movie - never made it to the end. And I refuse to even watch Superman on general principles.

[identity profile] jupisan.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
I enjoy Thor. wished I own Captain America though. Liked the Cap better than Thor.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Movie-wise I think I'd have to go with Thor. :D

I watch it for DARCY.

She deserves much kudos for tasering Thor. XD

[identity profile] selenityshiroi.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 08:46 am (UTC)(link)
I despised Thor when I watched it. I really disliked the Thor character (he acted like a dick for the majority of the movie and then he suddenly had an epiphany in not acting like an entitled ass), I didn't think much of the human characters (mostly because of the fact that they were still making moon eyes at Thor despite him not deserving them) and at the film's halfway point the only character I even liked was Loki (but I knew he was going to be the villain...and it felt like token villainy to me because it happened too quickly, but I also refuse to Woobify Villains so I had to give up on him).

But now that I've watched Avengers, I really want to try watching it again. Because I liked Thor a lot more in Avengers and maybe I'll be able to tolerate him more now that I know who he's going to become.

Plus...Chris managed to make me cry in about ten minutes during Star Trek (2009). I feel like I owe him a second chance, just for his acting as Jim Kirk's dad!

THIS. He's a douche who winds up acting slightly less douchey, plus he's dumber than a brick and I'm supposed to be cheering for him?

and at the film's halfway point the only character I even liked was Loki (but I knew he was going to be the villain...and it felt like token villainy to me because it happened too quickly, but I also refuse to Woobify Villains so I had to give up on him).

Yeah, that bit was not all that great, IMO. Out of all the characters I found Loki the most interesting, but his whole "I WILL DO GENOCIDE BECAUSE DAD DIDN'T LIKE ME BEST" was...Ugh. Get over it already, dude. I can see why he's woobied so hard - it's the building blocks for woobiedom.

Plus...Chris managed to make me cry in about ten minutes during Star Trek (2009).

So strange that it's the same guy. Must be the abs. XD
