tumblr, you strange thing

Even though it's distracting to watch the pretty pictures go by, here's another way tumblr is deficient: People don't quite grasp the concept of disagreement. On LiveJournal there's not really that problem. Oh, someone might get butthurt about it, but if you post something unlocked that's even the slightest bit controversial, people expect to get comments.

On tumblr people seem SHOCKED that anyone would disagree with them. After all, it's my tumblr! I can say what I want! Which conveniently leaves off the rest of it. Yes, you can say whatever you want, but people can also say whatever they want in response.

It's a bit of a confusing sentiment to run across. Maybe people think they're posting in a bubble? Which sort of kind of explains the public file sharing? Maybe people think that only their friends can see them or something? Whatever the case, any time I see a post about "why did you disagree with me???" or about sharing files it's like O_O.

And on that rambling note, I'm off to a BBQ! :D

Lol, I guess people expect Tumblr to be run by unicorns and filled with rainbows and sparkles, not realizing that not everyone has the same mind thoughts as them. Or they get lulled into a false sense of security when they see things they like every time they look at their dash, so are shocked when they see something they don't like. I think a lot of it is legitimately kids who don't have any understanding of what "freedom of speech" really means nor apparently what "my opinion" means. PROTIP: it doesn't mean "I have a license to say whatever the hell I want at any time and no one can say anything because that's just, like, my opinion, man".

Tumblr has a lot of REALLY defensive users. Like, I'm sorry, but it's just rude to tag hate. Yeah, you're entitled to your opinion, but tagging hate puts those views in the direct sight of people who track the tags who are generally people who are fans of that thing. So um, if you do tag hate, don't get angry when people aren't amused. But tumblr users get SO defensive and upset when people call them out for their hate.

It really is chaos over there. At least with LJ you have communities and filtering and so on. But there one tag is everyone's tag. So yeah, it should come as absolutely no surprise that if someone throws out hate, people will respond.

Yes it is indeed a real thing (with a real, and recent, tag war) IF you are a fan of Rumpelstiltskin/Belle AND a fan of Doctor Rush. If so there is RUSHBELLE. Yeah, I know. I'm not usually a crossover fan but this has become a bit of a guilty pleasure. *cough* The best place to find it is on the Rushbelle tag on tumblr. (This is also another mark in the Belle = Rose list I have in my head: Belle crossovers with all the Carlyle characters.)

Ah, sorry. I put an A in there instead of a U. I get mixed up! I'm not a fan of SGU either but I am a fan of Robert Carlyle so I watched all of his scenes. It goes much faster that way. :)

That's definitely a good way to go through SGU. I actually watched all of s1 when it aired and after that just couldn't with that show anymore. Barring a few scenes, everything was super depressing, super problematic, the pace was so slow it was almost non-exsistant.... and to top it all off, the tptb were being even bigger assholes than usual.

Heh. I tried to watch it back when it was airing since my husband was a fan but each time I would last about 2 minutes before getting bored and wondering why they couldn't afford any lights for the show. Watching on netflix with my finger on the fast forward button was a much better choice so as to get my scruffy, sarcastic, Scottish fix without all the filler. My favorite thing about SGU was that it got canceled just in time for Robert to move onto OUAT. (And the TPTB had their heads up their asses if they really thought Universe was a better show than the other two.)

I keep telling myself tumblr and I are going to take a little break due to my ever growing annoyance with its adolescent mindset, yet somehow I still end up there several times a day. So much for my willpower, man.

But yeah, I get fed up enough with the fact that people seem to think they need to post every thought that comes into their head (and to paraphrase Easy A, they're not all gems) much less those who think tagging it is a good idea. Sorry tumblr user but I don't care that you're glad you tumblr saviored Tom Hiddleston or that you hate Rose Tyler or that your friends told you to watch this show but you thought it was stupid and quite frankly I'm not sure who you think will care.

At least I'm not tracking that many tags anymore. Better for my blood pressure.
