Yay! It's back! And it's soapy as ever! XD
- Bates is still in jail, and it feels like it's going to be a boring plotline. Well, maybe he'll be killed off by his cellmate and that will be the end of it. One can hope. Poor Anna, though.
- Robert lost the entire fortune. Good job, Robert. You're lucky Cora's so understanding that you lost her money. You should kiss her shoes and never look at another maid again.
- I can see why Matthew doesn't want to take Lavinia's father's money, but I still want to poke him with a stick. He still doesn't seem to quite get that the estate isn't simply about living in luxury. An entire county's livelihoods depend on the estate either directly or indirectly. So he'd let his pride and/or guilt take down hundreds of people? POKING WITH STICKS. Suck it up, Matthew.
- Branson's douchiness seems to be down a notch. Slightly. Hopefully it's on a downward decline. They should just assign Violet to him on a permanent basis so that after everything he says, she'd be there to say "lol whatever." It'd be very good for him.
- I wish that Mary hadn't gotten married in the 20s. That style - it looked like she was in a sack. A pretty sack, but still a sack. I have to credit the costumers on this show since it did look very authentic 1920s, and they didn't try to shape it differently so it'd be more flattering. Actually all of the costumes were amazing in this episode.
- On that note, Edith looks absolutely fab in 1920s clothes and hair.
- Sybil looks dowdy, but she's supposed to.
- This show. I half expected there to be some dramatic thing that stopped the wedding, but it looks like they actually pulled it off. :D

- I'm still kind of irritated with Robert after that pointless cheating-with-the-maid storyline. I'm kind of surprised Cora let the money thing go so easily, but at the same time, I'm glad they had him tell her and not keep it as some horrible secret that forced an even bigger wedge between them.
- I agree, I see why Matthew wouldn't want to take the money (since he JUST got over that fact that he and Mary "killed" Lavinia) but I feel overall (for this episode at least) he's regressing back to his S1 state; I feel like Matthew had come to a good place last season, more aware of the ways of the aristocracy, but retaining his common sense. I feel like he’s going to backslide and offend everybody (especially Mary) by insulting their lifestyle.
- By the end of the episode I was pretty happy about the Sybil/Branson relationship (especially Branson's ~bonding~ with Matthew) but he really irritated me when he was all “Don’t disappoint me Sybil.” Wow, patronizing much Branson? You could at least try to fit in a little bit for your wife’s sake. Y’know, cause she gave up everything and ran off to IRELAND with you. But like I said, he seemed to calm down a bit by the end of the episode.
- The dress was SO blah. I'm NOT a fan of that 20s style. Though, I'd read a review commenting on her dress so I was prepared for the worst (I was deathly afraid that dressing gown thing she was wearing over it WAS her dress. Blegh).
- I know, Edith was looking cute. I kind of ship Edith/Sir Anthony too (I know, I know) but it probably won't end well.

I'm glad they didn't create bigger drama between them, especially since there will be enough drama over it with Matthew.

Yeah, it seemed a bit off. Like talking to Mosely - I thought he understood about that.

It was nice that they're trying to include him and it's not quite so antagonistic between them all anymore. Now if only he'd get down off his high horse more often... And I missed the bit about "don't disappoint me Sybil." When was that?

I know, I felt like he'd finally accepted (or at least tolerated) some stuff like that.
"And I missed the bit about "don't disappoint me Sybil." When was that?"
If I heard it correctly, it was while they were in bed and she was talking to him about those people visiting (y'know, with the jerky son who then drugged Branson's drink). She was trying to get him to compromise a bit - like go to town and buy the proper attire (which was perfectly reasonable imho).

Can that happen every time, please? XD
The sad thing is that it really was an important issue, but due to Branson I only find it irritating.
Anything about Sybil's baby?
There were one or two lines about it, and she'd pat her stomach every once in a while. But it's clear the baby's a ways off.
I seriously didn't think they would HAVE the wedding until the last ep of this season.
I was surprised by that too!
Maybe Robert and Matthew will lose the rest of their money in the economic crash of 1929.
I really hope they won't burn through 9 years this series like they did last series.

She really does need to stop that. I wouldn't mind a love interest for her or something. Something that doesn't involve house politics.
Anna, your husband is right enjoy your life and tell him all about it.
Yeah, I did like that bit.
Grandmama L, stay forever please
She and violet would make an awesome Statler & Waldorf of Downton. XD

We have a street here in Montreal named after Grand Trunk. Oh well, it's still a nicer name than Canadian National (or Canadian-Pacific). It's in the (formerly) Irish working-class part of town.... so there ya go, things DA makes me think of.
Pfft plot? What plot? Give me the styles of yesteryear!

Matthew is being a bit ridiculous about the money, but I understand where he's coming from too. And I also understand why Mary's pragmatic self can't understand it. Hopefully she'll get him to come around though.
I found Branson like 80% insufferable. His "don't disappoint me" comment to Sybil was obnoxious as was his protestations over the morning coat.
I wasn't a huge fan of Mary's authentic wedding dress. BUT her hair piece and veil were stunning. So. IA about Edith and Sybil's clothes too. Although I thought that Mary's other clothes were pretty stunning. I loved a lot of her dinner dresses.

I imagine she will. Maybe once he's faced with the reality of it.

I missed the bit about "don't disappoint me". And Branson remains a douche. The thing with the wedding clothes was silly.
Although I thought that Mary's other clothes were pretty stunning. I loved a lot of her dinner dresses.
TOTALLY.
