Article on S7 of Doctor Who so far.
Warning: negativity about Doctor Who, so if that kind of thing bums you out, don't click!
Highlights in the comments: DW's gay agenda! Entertainment is flooded with minorities! Eleven is too feminine! But of course an actual female Doctor would be the ultimate insult! Bad scripts are the BBC's leftist agenda!

The article is totally right though. S7 has been dull as bricks unfortunately and they are absolutely using the recurring characters to draw in viewers without actually DOING anything with those characters. Womp. Maybe it'll get better when the Ponds finally leave? Maybe the companion will stop being set dressing? HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL.

Even when they try really hard for character development, like ATCM was trying with the Doctor, it comes off feeling bland and unearned to me. Am I supposed to see a connection between the Doctor killing Filch in DOAS and wanting to kill Jex in ATCM? Or is that just coincidence? If it's meant to be there, why not make reference to it in some way? Wouldn't it have been more powerful to have the Doctor yell about "victims of his mercy" if we'd SEEN victims of his mercy in a recent episode? If Amy thinks the Doctor travelling alone has been so bad for him, why does the episode end with her and Rory deciding to go home but no mention of "hey maybe you should find someone else to travel with"?
It's dumb. I can't help but think Moffat reacted to the criticism of s6 being obscenely "arc heavy" (in reality people just found it convoluted) by going the exact opposite direction and making every story feel totally disconnected.

I was beginning to think it was me because as usual with Moffat, everyone is like "best show" and I'm waiting for characters I don't even like to return just to make the show interesting again.

The only episode I've found particularly interesting was 7x01 and that was solely because of the unexpected appearance of Jenna-Louise Coleman -- I think if it had been any other actress in the role I'd not have cared, and the rest of the episode was a hot mess. DOAS and ATCM have just been dull, and ATCM in particular was frustrating because it felt like maybe there was a good story hidden somewhere in there that just couldn't surface.

I can only agree with everything everyone already said. Season 7 feels so disjointed and random. In the first two episodes the Doctor has no mercy (not for the crazy Daleks, not for Oswin or for Filch) then he yells about the victims of his mercy. WHAT VICTIMS? I mean, I get that he means ~overall~ (even mentions the Master
and Amy acts like she knows perfectly well who that is, when did they talk about him) but like... give me SOME emotional build-up to this. I'll take anything at this point.no subject

I've been on this road for 40 years now and there have always been ups and downs. Each version will have their nay- & yeah-sayers. It really needs to be taken as a whole rather than picking it apart.
I've loved some of the Matt Smith episodes. I've also hated some of the Matt Smith episodes. But it all comes down to the fact I love the show in general and am quite ready to stay with it and see where it takes me next. That's the real surprise in the show. Never knowing what's up next. Don't like it now? Wait a year or three. It will turn into something completely different. That's it's nature...
