  • Awww, they skipped ahead! I wanted to see the wedding reception.

  • I wish that Granny II would pop up more, because all the snipping is totally amusing. I love it when Violet is in a special kind of snit. (As opposed to her regular kind of snit.)

  • I don't know female health history, but were people doing self breast checks back then? Seems like a modern storyline being thrown in.

  • *POKES MATTHEW WITH A SHARP POINTY STICK ABOUT THE MONEY* And of course Robert agrees with him. Save us from Honorable Men.

  • I don't really like the new servant. He's just a bland sort of annoying. (Why is Daisy so annoyed about him and that other girl?)

  • Speaking of Daisy, her character is starting to irk me in that she hasn't really changed from S1. And it's supposedly been how many years now?

  • CRISIS AT THE DINNER PARTY! A PICNIC LIKE THE YOUNG PEOPLE DO! LOLOLOLOL.

  • Aww, Edith will finally be happy. Although that whole thing happened damn quick. I mean, I guess not quick in the sense that they've been dancing around each other for years, but quick in the crisis/resolution thing in this episode.

  • Hmmm. I'm sensing things will be clipping by at a breakneck speed again. Before you know it Matthew and Mary will have an 8 year old and a 4 year old by the end of this series. Slow down a bit! Is there something we need to be speeding towards?

  • Eh, looks like Bates will die in jail. Probably. Unless that's a red herring. But anything to end this storyline.

There's a group of students at the study centre who started watching this as a group last night, and the commentary that went on was fantastic! :D Lots of irritation for Matthew being so good and such a doof, mixed speculation about Bates, ALL THE LOVE for Dowager Duchess Violet, no love for Thomas, and since it's a group of Americans watching the show in London, lots of amusement at everything about Americans in the episode.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2012-09-24 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
How fun! :D

I was amused at the American stuff as well.

*POKES MATTHEW WITH A SHARP POINTY STICK ABOUT THE MONEY* And of course Robert agrees with him. Save us from Honorable Men.

Eh, Since there doesn't seem to be money coming in from anywhere else, I have the feeling that the bad investment is going to suddenly start making money or some such. They'll be rich again and manage to hold onto their scruples.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2012-09-24 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Whatever happens it probably will be very deux ex machina. Oh, this show. :D

I still love it to bits.

Totall! It's soapy with fabulous dresses! What's not to love? :D

First of all. Matthew just take the fucking money and save Downton.

Seriously, Fellowes this money issue is grating my nerves and both Mary and Matthew right now are annoying me.

Edith, glad you got your man but it looks like in the preview that hes either rather late to his own wedding, or dead, or gonna stood you up.

Miss Sybill and Tom, bring them back.

Yay for moving to a new place but Matthew it would cramp your style. Just give Robert the money with the condition that you will make all the money decisions since Robert isnt good at it.

I understand why Matthew feels horrible about Lavinia, but the way he's acted because of it has been kind of crappy and selfish. Even before the money thing the way he laid his own guilt on Mary was a bit shitty.

Awww Edith.

And hopefully no one makes the same mistake with Robert and money again.

[identity profile] jupisan.livejournal.com 2012-09-24 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I blame he did these decisions when he was kinda lost and when that maid Jane came.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2012-09-24 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, he wasn't exactly top form there.

That being said in the 1920's if you found a bump or lump where there wasn't one before you might be going to the doctor about it depending on where it is and how comfortable you were with talking to your doctor.

It just seemed sort of out of place in how they did it on the show. :\

I was really disappointed with Daisy last week when she listened to Thomas yet AGAIN. Please, please please GROW UP Daisy then maybe the rest of the staff will start treating you the way you want them to.

And they had such an opportunity for her to have some growth, what with dealing with her marriage for a minute. You'd think by now she'd realize that people don't always give her the best advice.

I thought I read on Wikipedia that s3 was supposed to span 18 months. Wiki's not always right or current so maybe they changed their minds?

18 months wouldn't be too bad.

I don't think they can keep skipping years at a time anymore unless they want to get a new cast 'cause the actors just won't fit anywhere near the characters ages anymore. Seriously, though, where the hell are Sybil and Tom....I need more Branson/Matthew bromance...

Was I the only one who suddenly went, "Um...dude...did Bates actually kill his wife?!" when he practically shived his roommate?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2012-09-24 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, before you know it they'll be in their 60s but look 25. XD

And I wasn't quite sure about Bates. I sort of think he was just being all tough, but it would be an interesting twist if he actually did it.

[identity profile] goatonacow.livejournal.com 2012-09-25 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, he probably was just being tough, but it would be a seriously insane twist if he's actually a murderer...though I'd feel awful for Anna!

[identity profile] bananasandroses.livejournal.com 2012-09-25 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Not convinced Bates murdered anyone. But if anything, that prison seems cleaner and better-run than I'd expected. As for the cell-mate, probably best for Bates to put the fear of God into him now rather than risk him becoming trouble later. I wonder what "arrangement" exists between the cell-mate (do we know his name yet? I don't think I heard it, but I might be wrong) and the screw, too.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2012-09-25 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
*nods* After all, this isn't the first time Bates has been in jail. He most likely knows how to handle himself and put on a persona.

And I'm not sure about the cellmate.

Glad for Edith that she finally appears to be getting what she's wanted so long.

I <3 Matthew, but find Mary tiresome at the best of times; Tom Branson is brilliant.

And Thomas just doesn't seem to have learnt anything, does he? Still the same SOB as he was at the start.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2012-09-25 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm glad for Edith too. She really should get away from Downton Abbey to enjoy her own life.

And I doubt Thomas will ever change. He'll die a manipulative bastard. :D

Best line from the ep!:

Violet to Robert in his non-tails wearing state: Do you think I could get a drink? Oh! I thought you were the help.

HA! I literally did LOL at that.
