Holy cats!

Yay! [livejournal.com profile] emry! It came! You are such a sweetie!! *munches on chocolate*

And in other package news: [livejournal.com profile] matteabrit, [livejournal.com profile] spikesbuffy and [livejournal.com profile] suzvoy - they went out today. Of course who knows how long yours will take, Suz. A month? A year? ;)

Note to self. Never mention the words "Harry Potter" or "Pratchett" in your journal. (Should I tell you I had never even *heard* of Discworld until it was mentioned on someone's journal about a month ago? So tell me. Are there, uh, discs in it?)

So many emails and work's busy today - so I'm really, really not ignoring everyone. Really! Well, not by choice at least.

sorry, sorry, sorry! *snicker*

so, do you really want to know about the Discworld? *evilgrin*

sorry all I am doing at work today involves listening to lage amounts of recorded silence, keyboard tapping, mouse clicks and the occasional random comment from our test subjects, so I've been mucking about on LJ all day ;)

Oh, my dear sainted aunt! No, you shouldn't!

::starts preparing a crash-course in Pterry for Michelle::

It's called Discworld because the world is in the shape of a disc that revolves on the backs of four elephants which rest on the shell of Great A'Tuin, the turtle which swims through space.

It's probably myffic. And quantum. It's definitely magic.

I ::heart:: Pterry's writing.

A thousand thousand thank yous :)

As for how long it will take to get to Suz... might even take only a week. We ought to race to see how it long it gets to either the UK or the middle of the desert - I swear mail takes a week longer to get here than it should usually *g*

Nope, it IS a disc. I found my interest in Terry Pratchett through one of his non-Discworld books which one of my friends delighted in reading to me out loud one rainy Saturday afternoon at college. His advice to me: do not start reading the books at the beginning. So I chose Soul Music which was new out at the time, and then played around from there.

Yes, I can talk for hours about the Discworld... and if I ever get clever one day I could probably do a fairly nifty crossover fic *g*

No! You guys were having a discussion - go for it! :) An old Saturday Night Live sketch had Mike Meyers saying "Talk amongst yourselves. I'll give you a topic..." Heh.

so, do you really want to know about the Discworld? *evilgrin*

I kinda of do. It does sound interesting. But then I just like sucking up new knowledge.

That's me most days. Just wasn't today. :(

AGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!! Heh.

Okay. Surprisingly enough I'm with you. So the inhabitants of Discworld - are they human?

I should probably just go read the books, huh? Am somewhat confused about the books. How many are there? Is there some sort of order to them?

De nada!

Meep! Well, I hope it doesn't take *that* long!

His advice to me: do not start reading the books at the beginning.

Really? Why not?

I'm just thrilled that you sent it - thank you!! :)

Of course, I've had something take three months before...
