X-Files 2
Huh. So disappointed with the first one - I still think it should have been like one of their standalone episodes as opposed to one of their mythology episodes. Instead of scaring the pants off of us, we got a story about bees.
But, I'm sure I'll go watch it no matter what. Come on - it's Mulder and Scully!
Unrelated, but sci fi question: Did anyone watch Children of Dune? Was it any good? Should I catch it one of the next 50 times SciFi airs it?

I'm sorry... I was a huge XF fan and still enjoy the old eps... but I would really like to know how they think GA and DD could play their pre-XF selves considering that the show started in, what, '93?
Naturally I'll go see it, though, even if they insist on putting Reyes in it ;)
Re:
You know, that threw me too. Until I went over to the Dark Horizons site - probably should have linked that instead of the little SciFi blurb. Their wording was "but said it might be a prequel set before the events of the TV series last season."
SciFi left out the "last season" part - huge difference! What would be the point if Mulder & Scully weren't together? :)

You mean She Who Thinks She is a Whale? ;)

LOL, exactly. Of course, I didn't even watch the majority of the last season...

She just rubbed me the wrong way... I don't know. Loved Doggett, though.
Re:
Ditto. And I had been a die hard fan since the beginning.

Pretty much same here. I did really like Doggett (after I stopped expecting him to turn into liquid metal) and even liked Doggett & Scully's interaction - it just wasn't *Mulder* & Scully. *g*

Especially after the move to LA. Yech.
Re:
If they ain't wandering around in the back woods of BC in dense fog, it ain't the X-Files. :)

Re:
Oh, I actually do own the movie. *g* I just always had the feeling it could have been *so* much stronger. And scarier. And less confusing to a person that decided to see the movie but hadn't seen the tv show.
The season before Mulder disappeared it went downhill and then it just lost me. Scully getting pregnant, dry as a desert Doggett. No thanks, I bailed out. Maybe this will be better, hope so.
I think the world bailed out. I think it started going downhill when they made the move to LA. The show held on for a couple seasons too long. Hope that doesn't happen to Stargate.
Re:
Stargate is still going strong, as far as I can tell. They are finally starting season five here the 26th! Yaaay! I thought they were ending after seven so seems they kept strong. (or am I wrong?)
Re:
Yeah, they're going strong - stronger than when they started. It seems like the show has been a sleeper - really starting to hit its stride in the later seasons. Actually, I've liked the tone/style/writing of the show progressively more each season. (But that could be personal preference.) As time has gone on, they seemed to take themselves less seriously and have become more willing to take risks. (Come on - Ninja Jaffa? Loved it - wasn't in the risk category, but definitely in the less serious category. *g*) Of course, character development helps since it seems to be more of a character-driven show.
Re:
Well in comparison with the X-Files it sure is. Seeing I'm still basing things on season four though, I do believe that the show has just gotten stronger. Season one compared to two is a huge difference I think. Season four for me was strongest and is the most recent I've seen.
The X-Files is mroe based on the stories. Although not completely either, it wouldn't be half as much fun if they weren't Mulder and Scully. Still, the strong plots and mysteries carried the show. And in my opinion that is what it started to lose. The open endings to me suddenly seemed closed. The mysteries got easier to see through and the spooky factor became far fetched, hard to believe and even ridiculous. I think Chris Carter stopped taking it serious or failed to deliver me a serious story.
But then maybe that's just my point of view.
Re:
Just keeps getting better. :)

No, I agree. The show really lost its edge somewhere along the way. The scare factor became less and less as time went on.
Fortunately for Stargate it's more of an ensemble cast so they have more characters to work with & more potential stories. Also they aren't limited to one basic type of story week after week. X-Files needed to come up with some unexplained something or other that Mulder & Scully needed to investigate that hopefully would creep out the audience in the process. It's got to be hard thinking up so many stories like that. Stargate doesn't need to go for the consistent scare. Or consistent anything, for that matter. :)

$25.50. Uh, that would be matinee price. If you're a senior. And a student.
