Am now over the 17,000 word mark. No clue how many pages that is since I leave good-sized blanks everywhere to remind myself to fill in. Sometimes the blanks have nasty notes.
[Totally does not sound like Ten here, you dipshit. Fix it.]
[Elis will mock you for this.]
After watching a whole series, I still find writing Ten's voice unbelievably hard. The more I think about it, the more I'm coming to the conclusion that they just did not write as much character depth as with Nine, and that's my problem. Although the Doctor's still the Doctor - totally the same guy - you just have to do a shift for personality. I guess I subscribe to the notion that in his *head,* the Doctor is the Doctor is the Doctor. Ever since One. Maybe that's wrong. But that's probably why some fandom things confuse me since apparently some make more of an actual split.

I figured out last night that the times I loved the Doctor best was when we was conveying his thoughts through action not necessarily through words.

Yeah. Not sure why that was. But even as far as character development - it was very minimal. Maybe the mindset is that the Doctor really doesn't need to be developed. He's *the Doctor.* I mean, even episodes like School Reunion and The Girl in the Fireplace, which on the surface seem like big Doctor episodes, I still maintain that the majority of the character development ended up happening with Rose.

Oooh. Got any examples? Not that I don't believe you. I'm just curious. :)
yes, capslock WAS needed :D
Re: yes, capslock WAS needed :D
Whoopsie. :D I'm not trying to toy! Really! Just I've never done anything this big and I need to flail!
And sometimes you do not even let people comment on them.
Yeah, because sometimes, well, most the time, I'm just navel-gazing and just need to throw it out there.
I'm sure it's going to be awesome and you've nailed Ten's voice.
Well...reserve judgment, m'kay? ;)
I'm really excited to see how you got around Doomsday and where snails come into play.
SLUGS. NO SHELLS.
*snickers*
It's not so much getting around Doomsday as figuring out how to fix it with events that happen after it. Doomsday will have totally happened before my fic.
I bet it's going to be great and if you DONT post it and let me read it I will attack you with the Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver, and no, it wont be set on "tickle". *menacing stare*
EEP.
It'll get posted. Eventually.

[I can't back this up with a link or anything, but I do remember plenty of people going, "...WTF?" at the time, which was around April-ish.]

Wow. I'm WTF-ing right there with them. I have a hard time believing it would have been the same type of series with Nine still around.

My guess is that when writing Ten the temptation to reduce him to a series of quips and cheeky raises of the brow is probably pretty high.
I think this sort of speaks to my belief that Tennant is playing him a little over the top and why I found Ten/Rose to be just too frigging CUTE (and not in a good way).
Yes. I will mock you.

God, yes. Fortunately he gets into an angst-type scenario fairly quickly where he gets a bit more serious. But other than that I try to just have him talk. A LOT. About nothing. And making him self-aware that his mouth gets him into trouble.

Yeah. *sigh* Although it *seemed* that as the episodes went on, he sorta chilled the fuck out. Slightly.

Yes. I will mock you.
Well, yeah. I mean I fled the chat room in TERROR after giving you a plot point. And then you chased me down with a "YOU WHAT???" Heh.

I'm going to have to rewatch the season now and try and pinpoint some places where he just does it for me. Oh the horror!

Oh, *completely*. That scene was brilliantly played. It would have been totally wrecked by words.

*pats*
Oooh! I have one! The Impossible Planet! When he loses the TARDIS. The reigns were pulled back even though he was desperately pleading for them to find it. And then the holding onto Rose. Very nice scene.

Well, hopefully DT actually *watched* S2 and recognizes that subtle is better.
Not that I'm watching S3. GOD NO.
