Interesting!

Looks like it *could* be a good way to write/beta fic since you can share documents online. I tried cutting and pasting the big fic in it a minute ago, but it does that annoying html formatting thing where it gets rid of hard returns in edit mode which is a pain to work with. However, it does have a feature where you can upload Word docs, so maybe that will work better.

Anyone ever use this for fic betas? Seems like it'd be handy instead of having to actually email Word docs back and forth. Plus, you can have more than one person look at the same doc.

I've used it to edit my own work, but I didn't really like the edit mode. I thought it'd keep track of all the little changes I'd made (which it did), but then it also showed me other stuff that ... just didn't make a lot of sense. FYI: I've used it by uploading Word files, and that always kept the formatting the same.

Yeah, the edit mode. Hate the automatic html formatting. It's kind of like ff.net in that regard - drives me bats. But I do love the idea of not having to ship stuff back and forth and also more than one person looking at the same thing. Might save on some double-beta work.

I love writely.

Which, of course, is probably why they blocked the URL at work.

But it's a great site.

Damn work! :(

I think I may shove my fics-in-progress in there and see how it goes.

They're so damn annoying, blocking my cool websites!

Looking forward to hearing if it works out for you, though.

I love writely and use it for RP purposes. I've never used the edit mode, though.

I just like the concept - letting other people have access and you can track changes. Very snifty. In theory, at least.

[livejournal.com profile] sc_angel72 said she uses it for beta-reading type stuff. I have yet to actually see how that works in action, yet.

Might have to throw something in there and make you guinea pig it. Mwah. ;)

That's actually not too far off from what I was thinking. It's got to be easier than, "OK, 172nd paragraph down..."

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2006-09-26 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Right right right. Okay, I'm throwing a wee scene from a sequel in there and will make you a collaborator. Maybe try a few edits and comments? Makes no difference if they're real comments. :D
