Torchwood 1x01

Neither pro nor con...yet. So Torchwood is basically Men in Black. Without the shades. It's even set up the same.

• Liked the wading through moralities of bringing someone back to life for only 2 minutes.
  
  
• Right. So "Gwyneth" from DW's The Unquiet Dead is now "Gwen" in Torchwood. Why'd they do that? WHY? I need a reason! *SHAKES*
  
  
• "CSI: Cardiff." Heh heh.
  
  
• Oh, it's good to see Jack again.
  
  
• The first "alien" encounter was...odd. Yeah, let's wait *right* until it attacks someone and *then* pop out of doors to take it down.
  
  
• After watching this and DW's episode "Rose," I now believe that every single person in the UK will automatically start talking to monsters, telling them they're playing a funny joke.
  
  
• Why the HELL did they spend 20 minutes telling Gwen everything, only to erase her memory? Oh wait. EXPOSITION. *headdesk*
  
  
• The grey, somber tone to the whole thing is dreary. Yeah, yeah. It's *not* Doctor Who. But it is the same universe. It's all kind of depressing.
  
  
• Oh goodie. Torchwood's got a its own...well, I guess it'd be pretty much a rapist, right? I mean, he used a spray on people that had no interest in him. And the other Torchwood people taking things home when they shouldn't. Yeah, Jack's got real tight control over his group there.
  
  
• Did anyone even bother to check the sound levels on this show?

Torchwood 1x02

• Did they give Gwen *any* kind of training before they went in the field? Anything? General list of dos and don'ts? So far she seems a bit...why is she here again? Shouldn't they have gotten someone with some sort of expertise in some field? Like...a scientist? Or something?
  
  
• Why are they covering deaths up? Yeah, Torchwood. Secret. But...
  
  
• The talk about not switching off, no life, etc. No wonder that chick shot herself. Torchwood is hell. Hell that consumes your life. God, poor Rose. Hope the AU Torchwood isn't like this.
  
  
• The hand! Jack's keeping the Doctor's hand!! And he WUUUUVS it. Must. Not. Make. Jokes. :-X
  
  

Well, after two episodes of Torchwood, can't say that it's really hooked me. Love Jack, but his one-liners just aren't that funny when the Doctor's not around to roll his eyes at him.






Gilmore Girls

I didn't catch the first half hour, but doesn't sound like I actually missed anything. Logan? What a jerk. He has a few hours to spend with Rory and instead he makes it a group date with his business buddies? Rory should have been way more pissed.

Lorelai and Chris – meh. Think I'm finally tired of so much hinging on who Lorelai is or isn't with.

And that's pretty much all I've got for this ep.







Veronica Mars

Awwww! *pats Logan* He was so sweet noticing the way Veronica and her dad interacted, smiling about it at the beginning. Makes me want Keith to adopt him.

*sigh* Are we going to have this rape plot this whole season? And of course it will be some shocking twist, like it was Logan. And speaking of which, shouldn't this ATM guy's face be plastered over every billboard and every hallway and every dorm? That seems like Veronica's style, but it was sorta just dropped after the whole "it wasn't the frat" thing. But...you have a picture of some dude!! Find him!!

Poor, poor Logan. Life keeps drop-kicking him. No wonder he's got this prickly outter shell.

And then Logan pretended to be Logan's brother. Which was confusing... Heh. Okay, not really confusing, just weird seeing the actor who plays Logan from Gilmore Girls playing Logan's fake brother.

Can we be done with the rape story yet?

OoooooOOOOOOoooooOOOOOOOOOOOH!

Wow, just so much happened in this episode. Tigh killed Ellen, the Pegasys was destroyed, the baby is now in the hands of the cylons and Kasey turned out not to be Kara's daughter. WOW.

Great battle scenes! Slamming the Galactica into the planet to release fighters and then jumping away! OOOOOH. And later the camera pushing back from the Galactica where you think that it's done for. Was asking myself "but what will they call the show now??" And then the Pegasys plowed into a cylon ship – OOOOOOH.

Glad they had their moment of celebration at the end, because next week we'll start to see fallout from everything that's happened. And I have the feeling it's going to get very ugly.

From what I read they're trying a new format. There will be three story arcs this season instead of one great big one. So it should only be another couple episodes before it's through.

Battlestar never ceases to amaze me or satisfy me (except that period around the Black Market episodes).

Saul and Ellen really did love each other. I had always wondered IF Ellen realy loved him or she was just using him to keep on top of things. But hey... if Ellen was one of those hidden  Cylons then maybe we'll see her again. I think they need a drunken cylon, don't you?

And yeah, the Pegsus! I knew they'd have to get rid of that ship sooner or later and I'm jsut glad they did it like that. Most of the crew was probably offloaded to the civ ships along with the bulk of the equipment. At least the Galactica can get resupplied.

And I loved the look of Adama as he was walking the halls with all the crew back on. Brings back memories of him walking those empty halls while everyone was on New Caprica.

The fallout should take up quite a while to, well... fallout. Can't wait to see how (and if) Gaeta makes it out the situation in the previews...

And now Balter is with the cylons. At least for a while. This ought to be interesting.

Well, yes. But I also think Jack wanted to see how she'd react to it. Lots of people would've freaked out much worse. I think he was keeping an eye on her for a future position, even if possibly not as soon as he anticipated.

Ah, you discoverd Owen. Lovely chap, isn't he? *shudder* People are making excuses for him, you know. "Well, it was a pheromone spray, so they must have been attracted to him anyway." "Well, he just sprayed the bloke so he could make a quick getaway." Except for how they didn't show that. I'm OK with Owen as creep as long as we're not meant to think he's a likable creep.

Well, at least I truly did not see Gwen as a Rose clone. Completely different characters. Yeah, a boyfriend, but...does that mean every woman with a boyfriend = Rose?

Unfortunately, I just wasn't really enamoured with the show in general. Not sure if I'll watch any more.
